Document Center toolbars

Document Center includes toolbars to provide easy access to document management tools and to other areas of Dentrix Enterprise. Each user can customize Document Center toolbars as desired: hide, display, and reposition toolbars; and hide, display, create, and customize buttons.

The function of each button on the toolbar is explained in the following table.

Button

Description

Patient Chart

Click to enter or manage a patient's clinical information. If a patient is selected in Document Center, that patient is the selected patient in Chart when it opens.

Family File

Click to enter or manage a patient's demographic, contact, or insurance information. If a patient is selected in Document Center, that patient is the selected patient in Family File when it opens.

Ledger

Click to enter or manage a patient's financial transactions. If a patient is selected in Document Center, that patient is the selected patient in Ledger when it opens.

Appointment Book

Click to schedule appointments and perform appointment-related tasks. When Appointment Book opens, it displays today's date and uses the default view.

Office Manager

Click to view or generate reports, perform maintenance, or configure settings.

Quick Letters

Click to open the Quick Letters dialog box to create a letter by merging information that is specific to the patient who is selected in Document Center into a document template.

Note: This button is available only if a patient is selected.

Quick Labels

Click to open the Quick Labels dialog box to create a label by merging information that is specific to the patient who is selected in Document Center into a label template.

Note: This button is available only if a patient is selected.

Continuing Care

Click to track and manage your patients' on-going dental care. If a patient is selected in Document Center, the Continuing Care window displays the continuing care for that patient. If a non-patient entity (provider, staff member, employer, referral, or insurance plan) is selected in Document Center, the Continuing Care window displays the continuing care for all patients who meet the criteria of the default view or the view that you used most recently to view the list.

Send Message

Click to open your email program (such as Microsoft Outlook®) to compose and send an email message. If an email address has been entered for the entity (patient, provider, staff member, employer, referral, or insurance plan) that is selected in Document Center, that entity's email address populates the To box of the email message automatically. If an email address has not been entered for the selected entity, the To box of the email message is blank.


Questionnaires

Click to print out medical history or other forms for the patient who is selected in Document Center to complete. If the patient has questionnaires, the button has a red check mark. If the patient does not have questionnaires, there is not a red check mark.

Note: This button is available only if a patient is selected.


Prescriptions

Click to write, manage, or print prescriptions for the patient who is selected in Document Center. If the patient has prescriptions, the button has a red Rx. If the patient does not have prescriptions, there is not a red Rx.

Note: This button is available only if a patient is selected.

Office Journal

Click to enter or manage communications with a patient, provider, or staff member. To enter or manage journal entries for a patient, have a patient selected in Document Center when you open Office Journal, and that patient will be the selected patient in Office Journal when it opens. To enter or manage journal entries for a provider or staff member, have a non-patient entity (provider, staff member, employer, referral, or insurance plan) selected in Document Center when you open Office Journal, and then select the correct provider or staff member when Office Journal prompts you to do so.


Treatment Planner

Click to manage the treatment plans for the patient who is selected in Document Center. If the patient has treatment-planned procedures, the button has a green chair. If the patient does not any treatment-planned procedures, the button has a gray chair.

Note: This button is available only if a patient is selected.

DXOne Reports

Click to open DXOne Reporting to generate and manage reports.

Log Off

Click to close all open independent and dependent windows.

Note: You can also open Dentrix Enterprise modules from the File menu, by pointing to Switch To and then clicking one of the menu options.

Patient Information toolbar

The function of each button on the toolbar is explained in the following table.

Select Patient

Click to open the Select Patient dialog box to select the patient whose Document Center record you want to access.


Medical Alerts

Click to display any medical alerts (problems, allergies, medications, and implantable devices) for the patient who is selected in Document Center. If the patient has at least one medical alert, the plus sign on the button is completely red. If the patient does not have any medical alerts, the plus sign is gray with a red outline.

Note: This button is available only if a patient is selected.


Patient Alerts

Click to enter or manage alerts for the patient who is selected in Document Center. If the patient does not have any patient alerts, the Create Patient Alert dialog box appears; otherwise, the Patient Alert dialog box appears. If the patient has alerts, the flag on the button is yellow. If the patient does not have alerts, the flag is white.

Note: This button is available only if a patient is selected.


Patient Referrals

Click to open the Patient Referrals dialog box to enter or manage referrals to and from your practice for the patient who is selected in Document Center. If the patient has referrals, there is a person on the button. If the patient does not have referrals, there is an outline of a person.

Note: This button is available only if a patient is selected.

More Information

Click to open the More Information window for the patient who is selected in Document Center.

Acquire toolbar

The function of each button on the toolbar is explained in the following table.

Description

From Device

Click to open the Dentrix Quick Scan dialog box to acquire documents from a WIA- or TWAIN-compliant device, such as a digital camera or scanner. You can also click the down arrow to select the acquisition source. This button is available only if the software or drivers for a compatible device have been properly installed for the Windows operating system on your computer.

Import From File

Click to copy a file from your computer’s drive, removable storage device, or another computer or storage device on your office's network.

Paste From Clipboard

Click to create a document from text and/or graphics on the Windows Clipboard.

Unfiled Documents

Click to move an unfiled document to the record of the entity (patient, provider, employer, referral, or insurance plan) that is selected in Document Center.

Document toolbar

The function of each button on the toolbar is explained in the following table.

Refresh

Click to make sure that the most recent additions and modifications from other modules and computers are being displayed in Document Center.

Print Document(s)

Click to print the documents that are selected in the document tree.

Note: This button is available only if at least one document is selected.

Send Document(s)

Click to open your email program (such as Microsoft Outlook) to compose and send an email message. If an email address has been entered for the entity (patient, provider, staff member, employer, referral, or insurance plan) that is selected in Document Center, that entity's email address populates the To box of the email message automatically. If an email address has not been entered for the selected entity, the To box of the email message is blank. Also, if any documents are selected in the document tree when you open your email program, those documents are included as attachments with the email message, and any notes for those documents are included in the body of the message.

Export Document(s)

Click to save a copy of each of the documents that are selected in the document tree to an alternate location (for example, a USB drive).

Note: This button is available only if at least one document is selected.

Document Information

Click to view or change the date, type, description, or notes of the document that is selected in the document tree.

Note: This button is available only if one document is selected.

Modify Document Attachments

Click to change the entities to which the documents that are selected in the document tree are attached.

Note: This button is available only if at least one document is selected.

Sign Document

Click to sign the file that is selected in the document tree.

Note: This button is available only if one document is selected.

Modify Document

Click to change the color of, crop, rotate, or add a page to the image that is selected in the document tree.

Note: This button is available only if one document is selected, that document is of an image file type (for example, .jpg or .png), and that document has not been signed.

Delete Selected Document(s)

Click to delete the documents that are selected in the document tree.

Note: This button is available only if at least one document is selected.

View toolbar

The function of each button on the toolbar is explained in the following table.

Expand List

Click to expand all the document type folders to view their contents in the document tree.

Collapse List

Click to hide all the document type folders in the document tree.


By Single

When you select an entity (patient, provider, staff member, employer, referral, or insurance plan) in Document Center, this button is active. However, with a patient selected, if you have clicked the By Family button and made the By Single button inactive, click the By Single button to view the documents of the patient who is selected in Document Center.


By Family

When you select a patient in Document Center, this button is inactive. However, with a patient selected, if the By Single button is active, click the By Family button to view the documents of the patient who is selected in Document Center and the documents of that patient's family members.

Note: The By Family button is available only if a patient is selected.

Filters

Click to filter the types of documents being viewed and to view documents with a date that is within a specified date range.


Show Preview

Click to show or hide the preview area. If this button is inactive, the preview area is not visible. If this button is active, the preview area is visible.


By Patient

Click to open the Select Patient dialog box to select the patient whose Document Center record you want to access. If this button is inactive, a non-patient entity (provider, staff member, employer, referral, or insurance plan) is selected. If this button is active, a patient is selected.


By Provider/Staff

Click to open the Select Provider/Staff dialog box to select the provider or staff member whose Document Center record you want to access. If this button is inactive, a non-provider or non-staff entity (patient, employer, referral, or insurance plan) is selected. If this button is active, a provider or staff member is selected.

Preview toolbar

The Preview toolbar only appears in the previewing area if the selected document is of an image file type (for example, .jpg or .png). The function of each item on the toolbar is explained in the following table.

Page

The current page number and total page count are displayed for the image that is being previewed.

Previous Page and Next Page

Click to navigate between the pages of a multi-page image that is being previewed.

Full Screen

Click to enlarge the image that is being previewed to fill the entire screen.

Zoom Out

Click to zoom out from the image that is being previewed.

Zoom In

Click to zoom in on the image that is being previewed.

Zoom Percentage

From the list, select how you want to display the image that is being previewed. You can choose to scale the image by a percentage, to fit the image by its height, to fit the image by its width, or to fit the whole image in the preview area.

Modify Document toolbar

The Modify Document toolbar is available in the preview area but only if the selected document is of an image file type (for example, .jpg or .png) and the Modify Document button has been clicked so it is active . The function of each button on the toolbar is explained in the following table.

Copy To Clipboard

Click to copy the image on the selected page to the Windows Clipboard. You can copy only one page of a multi-page document at a time.

Add Page

Click to add an image file as another page of the document that is selected in the document tree. On the button menu, select the source from which you want to add the image.

Delete Page

Click to delete the selected page.

Image Adjustments

Click to adjust the colors of the image on the selected page.

Crop Image

Click to crop the image on the selected page to the area you select.

Invert Colors

Click to invert the colors of the image that is being previewed.

Convert To Grayscale

Click to change the colors of the image on the selected page to grayscale.

Remove Spots

Click to sharpen the image on the selected page.

Rotate

Click to rotate or flip the image on the selected page. When you click the button, from the menu, select the desired degree of rotation or flip method.

Orientation

Click to specify the point of view that was used to acquire the image on the selected page: None, No Orientation, Right Side of Mouth, Left Side of Mouth, Entire Mouth, Inner, or Outer.

Undo

Click to undo the last operation that you have performed on the image on the selected page.

Undo All

Click to undo all the edits that you have made to the image on the selected page.
