To simplify the scheduling of an appointment, Dentrix Enterprise allows you to create a list of the 30 most common initial appointment reasons for your office. Once the list has been customized, you can quickly select the desired procedure from a list rather than typing or writing a long appointment description. Each of the 30 reasons must first be set up as a procedure or multi-code. None of the reasons can require additional treatment information, such as a tooth number. If these two requirements are not met, the reason will not be displayed in Appointment Book.
To customize Appointment Reasons
In the Practice Definitions dialog box, in the Definition Type list, select Appointment Reasons.
The corresponding definitions appear in the list to the right.
Do any of the following:
If there are fewer than 30 definitions, to add a definition, do the following:
With any definition selected, under Definition Text, replace the existing abbreviation in the first box (which can be up to four characters in length) and the existing text in the second box (which can be up to 50 characters in length).
Click Add.
Notes:
This button is available only if there are not already 30 definitions.
The new definition is added in the first available spot (if there are no gaps in the sequence, it will be the last item) and given an ID.

Note: Changing the definition for an appointment reason affects all appointments that have that appointment reason assigned to them.
