Removing medical alerts from patients

You can remove a patient's medical alerts (allergies and problems) as needed.

Note: Alternatively, you can expire the alert. An expired alert remains in the patient's record but is inactive.

To remove a patient's medical alert

  1. Do one of the following:

      1. If the correct patient is not already selected, use the Patient Search box to access the patient's record.

        Note: You can include inactive patients in the search results by setting the Include inactive patients switch to On.

      2. On the Patient menu, under General, select Overview.

        The patient's Overview page opens.

      On a patient's Overview page, the Medical Alerts tab of the Medical Alerts/Medications box displays any medical alerts that have been entered for the patient. Select a medical alert.

      The Patient Information page opens with Medical Alerts/Medications selected on the navigation panel (on the left), and the Edit Medical Alert dialog box appears.

    • How to get there

      1. If the correct patient is not already selected, use the Patient Search box to access the patient's record.

      2. Do one of the following:

        • While viewing any page of a patient's record, if the patient has any medical alerts, the Medical Alerts icon in between the Patient menu and the Patient Search box is a red plus sign. Click (or tap) the Medical Alerts icon.

          The Patient Information page opens with Medical Alerts/Medications selected on the navigation panel (on the left).

        • On the Patient menu, under General, select Overview. The patient's Overview page opens. Click (or tap) the Medical Alerts/Medications box.

        • On the Patient menu, under General, select Medical Alerts. The Patient Information page opens with Medical Alerts/Medications selected on the navigation panel (on the left).

        • On the Patient menu, under General, select Patient Information. The patient's Patient Information page opens. Select Medical Alerts/Medications on the navigation panel (on the left).

      In the Medical Alerts/Medications section of a patient's Patient Information page, select a medical alert.

      The Edit Medical Alert dialog box appears.

  2. Click (or tap) Delete.

    A confirmation message appears.

  3. Click (or tap) Delete.
