Editing locked insurance estimate overrides

You can modify the insurance estimate overrides that are associated with a procedure.

Note: Unlocking the insurance estimate overrides requires the "Unlock Insurance Overrides" security right.

To edit locked insurance estimate overrides

  1. How to get there

    1. If the correct patient is not already selected, use the Patient Search box to access the patient's record.

      Note: You can include inactive patients in the search results by setting the Include inactive patients switch to On.

    2. Do one of the following:

      • On the Patient menu, under General, click (or tap) Overview. The patient's Overview page opens. Click (or tap) the Ledger box.

      • On the Patient menu, under Financial, click (or tap) Ledger.

      The patient's Ledger page opens.

    Open a patient's Ledger page.

  2. Select a procedure.

    Either the Edit Procedure or View Procedure dialog box appears.

  3. If the procedure is locked, unlock it.

  4. On the Insurance Estimates tab, next to Insurance Estimate Overrides, click (or tap) the Unlock icon.

  5. Do one of the following:

    • If you do not have permission to unlock insurance estimate overrides, the Unlock Insurance Overrides pop-up box appears. Have a person who has been granted permission to unlock insurance estimate overrides enter his or her credentials in the Authorized user and Password boxes. Then, click (or tap) Unlock.

    • If you do have permission to unlock insurance estimate overrides, you do not have to enter credentials.

    The override options become available for editing.

  6. Do any of the following:

    • To add a Primary or Secondary estimate, select the applicable checkbox, and then enter the correct amount in the corresponding box.

    • To change a Primary or Secondary estimate, enter the correct amount in the applicable box.

    • To remove a Primary or Secondary estimate, clear the applicable checkbox.

    Note: The sum of both estimates cannot exceed the amount being charged for the procedure.

  7. Click (or tap) Save.
