Explosion codes
An explosion code is a group of procedure codes that are usually scheduled, completed, or recommended at the same time. You can use explosion codes to post many procedures simultaneously. For example, a root canal appointment may consist of several procedures, each with its own procedure time and fee. Instead of posting or schedule each of these procedures individually, you can use an explosion code to group them together, thus saving considerable time in posting and scheduling.
