Mistakes, such as typos, omissions, or incorrect/incomplete procedure codes can cause processing delays after claims are submitted to insurance carriers. But with EDS, most errors and omissions can be identified and corrected before the claims are sent to the carriers.
Watch this video to learn how to edit claims in EDS. (Duration 1:27)
This video demonstrates functions in the EDS Bridge with data that originated in Eaglesoft. (To access the EDS Bridge, Eaglesoft users must open the Bridge from Microsoft Windows.)
Key Information
For practices with more than one location or 3rd party or outside billing establishments, click the Location button and choose the location from which you want to edit claims. (This option helps to minimize the number of claims for a particular office and reduces computer load-times for practices with many claims.)
The following categories (statuses) are listed under the Claims At EDS section:
EDS Review – These are claims that EDS is currently reviewing and which will be posted (when their reviews are complete) in either the Rejected, Requires Attach, or Ready To Send categories.
Rejected – These claims have been reviewed by EDS and have been rejected due to errors other than needing an attachment(s).
Requires Attach – These claims need an attachment(s), which is likely required by insurance carriers.
Ready To Send – These claims are correct, and any required attachments have been allocated to them; therefore, they are ready to send to insurance carriers. They will be "batched out" by EDS at the end of the workday and forwarded to the insurance carriers.
The following categories (statuses) are listed under the Rejections section:
EDS – These are claims that EDS reviewed from the Claims At EDS section and rejected due to incorrect or missing information.
Payer – These are claims that were sent from the Ready To Send category to insurance carriers (payers) and which were rejected by the carriers for various reasons. (Note that the reason(s) can be quickly discovered by selecting the claims or by right-clicking the claims and selecting Edit Claim.)
The following categories (statuses) are listed under the Claims In PMS section; however, this section only displays in the Bridge for Eaglesoft versions below 21.2. In addition, these claims are still in the Eaglesoft database and have NOT been sent to EDS.
Invalid – These are claims in Eaglesoft that have invalid data.
Requires Attach – These claims require an attachment(s).
Hold – These are claims selected by an Eaglesoft user NOT to be sent to EDS; therefore, they are deferred until the hold is released.
Ready To Send – These claims are correct, and any required attachments have been allocated to them; therefore, they are ready to send EDS.
Each category list can be sorted by column by clicking the column's header.
When right-clicking a claim to edit, different options will appear, which allows you to edit or reject the claim, manage or require attachments, open the claim in your practice management software (PMS), etc. However, depending on the claim's status, the same options do not always appear for every claim. Select the option required for the claim.
When editing a claim's information in the EDS Bridge, the updated information is NOT posted to the claim in Eaglesoft. Therefore, for the claim's accuracy (and future claims), make the same changes to the claim in Eaglesoft that you made in the EDS Bridge. Or, simply complete the corrections in Eaglesoft and resubmit it to EDS.
Alternately, you can set a rejected claim as Mark as Read, correct the error(s) in Eaglesoft, and then resubmit the claim. However, if you resubmit a claim multiple times from Eaglesoft — on the same day — EDS may reject it because too many "same-day-duplication-attempts" were submitted.
If you inadvertently save a claim that you had not finished editing and attempt to select it again to edit it, you may receive a message indicating that the claim is "Read Only" and cannot be edited. To resolve this issue, click the Load button again, right-click the claim, and select Edit Claim.
