Each ADA procedure can have four alternate codes for insurance claim purposes. The first alternate code is displayed in the Appointment List when a procedure is scheduled. Only one set of alternate code names is included with Dentrix Enterprise. You can redefine the existing alternate code names to meet your needs.
To customize Alternate Procedure Code Names
In the Practice Definitions dialog box, in the Definition Type list, select Alternate Procedure Code Names.
The corresponding definitions appear in the list to the right.
Do any of the following:
If there are fewer than four definitions, to add a definition, do the following:
With any definition selected, replace the existing text in the Definition Text box.
Click Add.
Notes:
This button is available only if there are not already four definitions.
The new definition is added in the first available spot (if there are no gaps in the sequence, it will be the last item) and given an ID.
To edit a definition, do the following:
Select a definition.
Note: Changing the definition for an allergy reaction affects all patient records that have allergies with that allergy reaction attached.
Replace the existing text (which can be up to 50 characters in length) in the Definition Text box.
Click Change.
To delete a definition, do the following:
Select a definition.
Note: If you delete the definition for an alternate procedure code name, wherever that name should appear, "Text" appears instead.
Click Delete.
A confirmation message appears.
Click Yes.
