The toolbar contains several buttons that you can click to make working in Office Journal more convenient.
The function of each button on the toolbar is explained in the following table.

Close Office Journal |
Click to close Office Journal. |

Add Journal Entry |
Click to open the Add Journal Entry dialog box to add an entry. This button is available only if you are not viewing entries for a family. |

Select Patient, Select Prov/Staff, Select Referred BY, or Select Referred TO |
Click to select a patient, provider, staff member, referral source, or referral destination in Office Journal. Note: The name of the button and the dialog box that opens when you click the button vary according to the type of entity that is currently selected. |

Patient Alerts |
Click to enter or manage alerts for the patient who is selected in Office Journal. If the patient does not have any patient alerts, the Create Patient Alert dialog box appears; otherwise, the Patient Alert dialog box appears. If the patient has alerts, the flag on the button is yellow. If the patient does not have alerts, the flag is white. Note: This button is available only if a patient is selected. |

Click to expand every date in the list to show the corresponding entries. |

Collapse List |
Click to collapse every date in the list to show only the dates. |

Family Journal or Patient Journal |
Click to switch between viewing entries for a patient and family. Note: This button is available only if a patient is selected. |

View Filters |
Click to customize the view while you are viewing family and patient journal entries, provider or staff journal entries, or referral journal entries. |

Show Info or Hide Info |
Click to show or hide additional information on the right side of the window for a selected entry. |
