Appointment Book toolbar

The toolbar contains several buttons that you can click to access certain areas or features of Dentrix Enterprise.

Note: You can customize the toolbar to display, hide, or reposition buttons.

The function of each button on the toolbar is explained in the following table.

Description

Patient Chart

Click to enter or manage a patient's clinical information. If a patient's appointment is selected in Appointment Book, that patient is the selected patient in Chart when it opens.

Family File

Click to enter or manage a patient's demographic, contact, or insurance information. If a patient's appointment is selected in Appointment Book, that patient is the selected patient in Family File when it opens.

Ledger

Click to enter or manage a patient's financial transactions. If a patient's appointment is selected in Appointment Book, that patient is the selected patient in Ledger when it opens.

Office Manager

Click to view or generate reports, perform maintenance, or configure settings.

DentriXlink

Click to open a third-party program, such as a digital X-ray program, that has been installed and set up to work with Dentrix Enterprise.

Quick Letters

Click to open the Quick Letters dialog box to create a letter by merging information that is specific to the patient whose appointment is selected in Appointment Book into a document template.

Note: This button is available only if an appointment is selected.

Quick Labels

Click to open the Quick Labels dialog box to create a label by merging information that is specific to the patient whose appointment is selected in Appointment Book into a label template.

Note: This button is available only if an appointment is selected.

Continuing Care

Click to track and manage your patients' on-going dental care. The Continuing Care window displays the continuing care for all patients who meet the criteria of the default view or the view that you used most recently to view the list.

Send Message

Click to open your email software (such as Microsoft Outlook®) to compose an email message to send to a patient. If a patient's appointment is selected in Appointment Book, that patient's email address (if there is one on record) is used in the To box of the email message.


Patient Questionnaire

Click to print out medical history or other forms for the patient whose appointment is selected in Appointment Book to complete. If the patient has questionnaires, the button has a red check mark. If the patient does not have questionnaires, there is not a red check mark.

Note: This button is available only if an appointment is selected.


Prescriptions

Click to write, manage, or print prescriptions for the patient whose appointment is selected in Appointment Book. If the patient has prescriptions, the button has a red Rx. If the patient does not have prescriptions, there is not a red Rx.

Office Journal

Click to enter or manage communications with a patient, provider, or staff member. To enter or manage journal entries for a patient, have a patient's appointment selected in Appointment Book when you open Office Journal, and that patient will be the selected patient in Office Journal when it opens. To enter or manage journal entries for a provider or staff member, do not have an appointment selected in Appointment Book when you open Office Journal, and then select the correct provider or staff member when Office Journal prompts you to do so.


Document Center

Click to attach or manage important documents, pictures, and letters. To attach or manage documents for a patient, have a patient's appointment selected in Appointment Book when you open Document Center, and that patient will be the selected patient in Document Center when it opens. If the patient has documents, the button has papers in the drawer. If the patient does not have documents, there are not papers. To attach or manage documents for a provider or staff member, do not have an appointment selected when you open Document Center, and then select the correct provider or staff member when Document Center prompts you to do so.


Patient Finances

Click to view and add payment plans and change the account's billing type. If the account has a payment plan, the button has color. If the account does not have a payment plan, the button is gray.

Note: This button is available only if a patient is selected.

Updox Application

Click to open the Updox Secure Messaging Application dialog box to manage your secure messages.

Secure Messenger

Click to open Messenger to send instant messages to other users.

Schedule Appointment

Click to open the Select Patient dialog box to select the patient whom you want to schedule an appointment for. Next, the New Appointment Information dialog box appears so you can enter the appointment information.

Find New Appointment Time

Click to open the Find New Appointment Time dialog box to find an available appointment time by entering search criteria.

Locate Appointment

Click to open the Select Patient dialog box to choose the patient whose existing appointments you want to locate.

Break Appointment

Click to remove the selected appointment from the schedule and place it on the Unscheduled List.

Note: This button is available only if an appointment is selected.

Set Complete

Click to post the treatment that is scheduled for the selected appointment. Completed procedures appear in Ledger and Patient Chart.

Note: This button is available only if an appointment is selected.

Print Route Slip

Click to print a route slip for the selected appointment. This button is available only if an appointment is selected.

Delete Appointment

Click to delete the selected appointment.


Medical Alerts

Click to display any medical alerts (problems, allergies, medications, and implantable devices) for the patient whose appointment is selected in Appointment Book. If the patient has at least one medical alert, the plus sign on the button is completely red. If the patient does not have any medical alerts, the plus sign is gray with a red outline.

Note: This button is available only if an appointment is selected.


Treatment Planner

Click to manage treatment plan cases for the patient whose appointment is selected in Appointment Book. If the patient has treatment-planned procedures, the chair on the button is green. If the patient does not have any treatment-planned procedures, the chair is gray.

Patient Alerts

Click to enter or manage the alerts for the patient whose appointment is selected in Appointment Book. If the patient whose appointment is selected does not have any patient alerts, the Create Patient Alert dialog box appears; otherwise, the Patient Alert dialog box appears. If the patient has alerts, the flag on the button is yellow. If the patient does not have alerts, the flag is white.

Clinical Notes

Click to manage clinical notes for the patient whose appointment is selected in Appointment Book.

Note: This button is available only if an appointment is selected.


Perfect Day Scheduling

Click to turn Perfect Day Scheduling on and off. If the button is depressed and has red and blue rectangles, this feature is turned on. If the button is raised and does not have any red and blue rectangles, this feature is turned off. You must turn on Perfect Day Scheduling to see the Perfect Day Scheduling time blocks.

Lab Case

Click to open your default Web browser to the DDX website (www.ddxdental.com/login) so you can log in to or create your DDX account to manage lab cases submitted to your lab through DDX. After logging in to your DDX account, Dentrix Enterprise sends certain patient information to DDX to populate the applicable boxes on the Schedule a New Case page if a patient's appointment is selected in Appointment Book when you access the DDX website. If a patient's appointment is not selected in Appointment Book, or if a new patient's appointment is selected in Appointment Book, when you access the DDX website, Dentrix Enterprise does not transmit any patient information to DDX.

Send Message to Portal

Click to open the Send Message to Portal dialog box to send quick messages to the portal of the patient whose appointment is selected in Appointment Book.

Note: This button is available only if an appointment is selected.

Patient Health Exchange Inbox

Click to open the Patient Health Exchange Inbox dialog box to handle DIRECT messages that have been received.

More Information

Click to open the More Information window for the patient whose appointment is selected in Appointment Book.

Note: This button is available only if an appointment is selected.

DXOne Reports

Click to open DXOne Reporting to generate and manage reports.

Scheduling Assistant

Click to open the Scheduling Assistant window, which can help enhance your scheduling workflow.

Signature Manager

Click to open the Signature Manager dialog box to sign multiple clinical notes at one time.

Log Off

Click to close all open independent and dependent windows.

Note: You can also open some Dentrix Enterprise modules from the File menu by clicking one of the menu options. You can also open other Dentrix Enterprise modules from the File menu, by pointing to Switch To and then clicking one of the menu options.
