Managing allergies
You can add allergies to a patient's record and edit or delete those allergies as needed. You can also change medical history codes into allergies.
To add a patient's allergy
1. On
the Medical History/Allergies/Alerts
panel of a patient's Patient Information Center, in the Allergies
section, click the Add icon .
A new item appears in the Allergies list.
2. Select an Allergy.
Note: To
add, edit, and
delete the allergies that
are available for selection for all patients, click LookUp.
Also, after you add an allergy to the table of allergies, to make that
allergy available immediately for selection for the current patient, click
Refresh .
To edit a patient's allergy
1. On the Medical History/Allergies/Alerts panel of a patient's Patient Information Center, in the Allergies section, select an allergy.
2. Change the Date and/or Allergy as needed.
To delete a patient's allergy
1. On the Medical History/Allergies/Alerts panel of a patient's Patient Information Center, in the Allergies section, select an allergy.
2. Click
the Delete icon .
A confirmation message appears.
3. Click Yes.
Note: When you delete an allergy that is dated prior to the current date, it is moved to the bottom of the list and crossed out with a line.
To make a medical history code into an allergy
1. On
the Medical History/Allergies/Alerts
panel of a patient's Patient Information Center, in the Medical
History section, click Open
.
The Medical History Codes window appears.
2. Select the medical history code that you want to make into an allergy.
3. Click Allergy.
A confirmation message appears.
4. Click Yes.
For any patients with the selected medical history code attached to their records, the code still appears in the Medical History section, but the code is removed from the medical history codes table and added to the allergies table to make it available for selection in the Allergies section of any patient's record.
