Insurance preferences
You can set up the preferences for insurance defaults.
To set up the preference
1. From the Utilities menu, click Preferences.
The Preferences dialog box appears.
2. On the Operation tab, under Insurance Defaults, set up any of the following options:
· Print Insurance Estimates - Select this check box to have insurance estimates print on statements, receipts, and so on.
· Always assign insurance checks to office - Select this check box to have insurance checks go to the office by default. Next to Responsible for Insur. on the Financial tab of the Patient Information Center, Office will be selected by default when you register a new patient, and the Insurance Checks to Office check box will be selected by default when you add insurance coverage to a patient.
· Maximum Benefits - Enter the default value for maximum insurance benefits when creating new insurance profiles.
· Maximum Deductible - Enter the default value for maximum insurance deductibles when creating new insurance profiles.
· Family Maximum Benefits - amount that will be used when creating a profile. The default amount is $0.00. If the amount is left as $0.00, when you create a new insurance profile, in the Edit Insurance Profile dialog box on the Benefits and Limits tab, the No Family Maximum check box will be selected by default, thus making the other Family Benefits options unavailable.
· Diagnosis Code (ICD)(Medical) - Select whether you want the default diagnostic coding system to be ICD-9 or ICD-10 for all insurance profiles where one of those systems is not specified and for all insurance profiles that are added from this point on.
· Prefix on Claims - Type the prefix for procedures included on claims in the field provided.
· Restrict deductibles in posting to indemnity profiles only - Select this check box to not charge deductibles for patients that do not have indemnity insurance even if the profile and patient insurance indicate that a deductible is required.
· Enable Diagnosis Code Popup for all profiles - .
· Use HIPAA numeric quadrants on printed ADA forms - Select this check box to use numeric quadrants for procedures on claims.
· Activate Future Estimator Table Setup - With this check box cleared, the Future button on the Estimator Table window and the Utilities menu option to Update Future Estimator Tables are unavailable.
· Show Dx codes on ledger – When selected, this option displays diagnostic codes in the Ledger.
3. On the Operation tab, under PIC, set up the following options:
· Prompt if Subscriber ID is changed - With this option is selected, if you change the Subscriber ID on the Patient Information Center's Insurance tab, you are prompted: The Subscriber ID has been changed. Save Changes? This option is not selected by default.
· Ask to Delete Family Members - With this option is selected, if you delete the insurance for a family member from the Patient Information Center, a message appears asking if you want to delete the family member's insurance information.
4. Click Ok.
