Attaching narratives to secondary claims

When you post a payment for a primary insurance claim with a procedure that has a narrative attached, the narrative will be attached to the secondary insurance claim if the patient has a secondary insurance carrier.

To attach a narrative to a secondary insurance claim

1.   Follow the steps to post a payment from the Payment window, and then click Save & Exit.

The Claim Submission dialog box appears, informing you that the claim has not been sent to the secondary carrier yet. The narrative that was attached to the primary insurance claim will automatically be attached to the secondary insurance claim.

2.   Set up the following options as needed:

·        Select how to submit - Select one of the options to print, send electronically, or not submit the secondary claim. If Printed is selected, select Print now to open a preview of the claim after the payment is posted.

·        Select options - Click Narrative to access the narrative attached to the primary insurance claim. The Attach Claim Narrative dialog box appears. Once you are finished viewing and/or editing the narratives, click Save.

·        Select box on ADA form - Select Office, Hospital, ECF, or Other to choose the place of service for the treatment.

3.   Click OK.

A preview of the receipt and the secondary insurance claim may appear.
