Setting unplanned visit reasons

Since not all appointments are for the same reason, you have a great amount of flexibility in setting appointments by dividing the reasons into three primary categories:

·        Initial – A procedure that you would do on an initial visit, such as an exam or a prophy.

·        Tx – A procedure that you previously treatment planned.

·        Misc – A procedure that was not planned for.

To set a reason for an unplanned visit

1.   In the Schedule toolbar, click the Schedule Appointment button.

The Select Patient dialog box appears.

2.    Select the patient you want to schedule an appointment for, and then click OK.

The New Appointment Information dialog box appears.

3.   Under Reason, click Misc.

The Procedure Codes dialog box appears.

4.   Select a category and the appropriate procedure code from their respective lists, and then click OK.

The procedure code you selected appears in the Reason text box, a short description appears in the Desc: text box, and a length of time and the fees associated with the procedure code are inserted in their respective text boxes. If the patient already has an appointment scheduled for the selected procedure code, the date appears.

5.   Continue scheduling the appointment.
