Entering procedures
All charges are linked to specific ADA procedure codes.
To enter a procedure
1. Select a patient.
2. In the Accounts toolbar, click Enter Procedure.
The Enter Procedure(s) dialog box appears.
3. Do one of the following:
· Type the appropriate procedure code in the Procedure field.
· Click the Procedure search button, and then from the Procedure Codes dialog box, select a category and procedure code from the list.
· Select an explosion code from the Explosion Codes list.
The Procedure Description and the charge Amount appear in their respective fields.
4. If the procedure requires a tooth and surfaces, do the following:
· Type a tooth number in the Tooth field.
Note: If you type a tooth number higher than 51 and lower than 82, a warning appears to alert you that you entered an invalid tooth number and to ask if you want Easy Dental to accept the tooth number as a supernumerary tooth. If the tooth number is 82 or higher, or 33 to 50, the invalid tooth number message appears. Click OK to type a valid tooth number.
· Click the Surfaces search button, and then select the appropriate surfaces from the Surface Selection dialog box.
Note: When a procedure’s surfaces are not connected, select the first surface, then select the next surface, and click Add.
· Click OK.
5. If necessary, do one or more of the following:
· To change providers, click the Provider search button.
The Select Provider dialog box appears.
· Select the new provider from the list, and then click OK.
· If you do not want this procedure included on a claim, select Do Not Bill to Insurance.
6. To add this procedure to the Procedure List, click Add.
7. Enter any additional procedures.
Note: After you have added the first procedure, the Procedure field defaults to the previously entered procedure code. This is useful when the patient is having several sealants, amalgams, or extractions.
8. Click OK/Post.
Easy Dental records all of the procedures in the Procedure List in the transaction log.
