Introduction to Electronic Remittance Advice Processing

An Electronic Remittance Advice (ERA) document is an electronic data file provided by insurance carriers containing an Explanation of Benefits (EOB) for received insurance claims. Like EOBs, ERAs explain a claim's payment and adjustment information. But unlike EOBs, the information is uploaded electronically into Dentrix Enterprise, so your staff won't need to enter it manually.

ERAs simplify the entire insurance remittance process, helping your practice realize these benefits:

To receive and process ERAs, you must first subscribe to Dentrix Enterprise eServices and have eClaims, and if needed, eSync for eEOBs, installed and working with a supported version of Dentrix Enterprise. Second, you must register for ERAs with Henry Schein One (HS1). And third, you'll need to enroll with your insurance carriers to receive their ERAs.

Note: You may see the term eEOB(s) (Electronic Explanation of Benefits) on Enterprise websites, Help Files, modules, etc. They are the same as ERA(s), as they perform the same functions. Also, 835 (the Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) data file for eEOBS) may be used instead of ERA.
