Deleting clinical notes

A clinical note is locked when it is moved into history after the month is closed out, when it is signed or approved, or if it has become locked automatically (according to a certain global setting). You can delete a clinical note or one of its pages only if it is not locked.

Note: Deleting clinical notes requires the "Clinical Notes, Modify" (to access Clinical Notes) and "Clinical Notes, Delete" security rights.

To delete a clinical note

In Clinical Notes, expand a date in the left pane, and then do one of the following:

Select the note that you want to delete.

Expand a note, and then select the page that you want to delete.

Click the Delete Clinical Note button .

A confirmation message appears.

Click Yes.

If applicable, do one of the following:

If the Password - Clinical Notes, Delete dialog box appears, user verification has been assigned to the "Clinical Notes, Delete" task. Do one of the following:

If your user account has been granted the "Clinical Notes, Delete" security right, enter your credentials in the User ID and Password boxes, and then click OK.

If your user account has not been granted the "Clinical Notes, Delete" security right, have a user with permission temporarily override this restriction so you can delete a clinical note this one time. The overriding user enters his or her credentials in the User ID and Password boxes and then clicks OK.

If a message appears, informing you that you do not have rights to this operation, your user account has not been granted the "Clinical Notes, Delete" security right. To have a user with permission temporarily override this restriction so you can delete a clinical note this one time, do the following:

On the message, click Yes.

In the Password - Clinical Notes, Delete dialog box, the overriding user enters his or her credentials in the User ID and Password boxes and then clicks OK.
