Dentrix Enterprise can be used to generate insurance claims. Various claim formats, including the standard ADA format, are available. However, not all claim formats are set up automatically. New dental insurance plans will default to use the first claim format listed in Practice Definitions. New medical insurance plans will default to use the first HCFA claim format listed in Practice Definitions. You can define up to 50 claim formats.
To customize Claim Format
In the Practice Definitions dialog box, in the Definition Type list, select Claim Format.
The corresponding definitions appear in the list to the right.
Do any of the following:
If there are fewer than 50 definitions, to add a definition, do the following:
With any definition selected, under Definition Text, replace the existing abbreviation in the first box (which can be up to 11 characters in length) and the existing text in the second box (which can be up to 12 characters in length).
Click Add.
Notes:
This button is available only if there are not already 50 definitions.
The new definition is added in the first available spot (if there are no gaps in the sequence, it will be the last item) and given an ID.
To edit a definition, do the following:
Select a definition.
Note: Changing the definition for a claim format affects all instances of that claim format that have been assigned to insurance plans.
Under Definition Text, replace the existing abbreviation in the first box (which can be up to 11 characters in length) and the existing text in the second box (which can be up to 12 characters in length).
Click Change.
To delete a definition, do the following:
Select a definition.
Note: If you delete the definition for a claim format that has been assigned to any insurance plans, that claim format will be removed from those plans. Also, when you open the Insurance Maintenance dialog box for any of those plans, a message may appear and inform you that you must set up claim formats in Practice Definitions.
Click Delete.
A confirmation message appears.
Click Yes.
