Practice Defaults overview

When entering patient information or performing certain tasks, the process of having to choose a provider or operatory can be redundant. To save time, Dentrix Enterprise allows you to set up defaults for the following on each computer: provider, operatory, billing type, chart provider, and billing statement. You can also set up the default insurance claim providers and e-claim options for each clinic.

Note: Accessing the Practice Defaults requires the "Practice Preferences Setup" security right.

To set up practice defaults

In Office Manager, on the Maintenance menu, point to Practice Setup, and then click Practice Defaults.

If applicable, do one of the following:

If the Password - Practice Preferences Setup dialog box appears, user verification has been assigned to the "Practice Preferences Setup" task. Do one of the following:

If your user account has been granted the "Practice Preferences Setup" security right, enter your credentials in the User ID and Password boxes, and then click OK.

If your user account has not been granted the "Practice Preferences Setup" security right, have a user with permission temporarily override this restriction so you can access the Practice Defaults this one time. The overriding user enters his or her credentials in the User ID and Password boxes and then clicks OK.

If a message appears, informing you that you do not have rights to this operation, your user account has not been granted the "Practice Preferences Setup" security right. To have a user with permission temporarily override this restriction so you can access the Practice Defaults this one time, do the following:

On the message, click Yes.

In the Password - Practice Preferences Setup dialog box, the overriding user enters his or her credentials in the User ID and Password boxes and then clicks OK.

The Practice Defaults dialog box appears.

Change the defaults as needed on any of the following tabs: General, Claim Providers, and eClaims Override.

Note: To change other system settings, click Preferences. Accessing the Preferences from the Practice Defaults requires the "Practice Preferences Setup" security right.

Click OK.
