You can edit multi-codes as needed.
To edit a multi-code
In the Multi-Code List dialog box, select a multi-code.
Click Edit.
The Multi-Code Editor dialog box appears.
If the Disable This Multi-Code check box is selected, to activate the multi-code, clear the checkbox. The other options in the dialog box become available.
Change any of the following options as needed:
Description - A description (up to 31 characters in length) for the multi-code.
Multi-Code - Each multi-code must be assigned a five-character code that will be used to identify the code when posting. Dentrix Enterprise automatically assigns "xx" as the first two characters of the code. In the box, enter three additional alphanumeric characters to represent the code.
Abbrev. Desc. - An abbreviated description (up to nine characters in length) for the multi-code.
Appointment Type - The appointment type to associate with the multi-code. By giving this group of procedures a specific appointment type, you can schedule your work to meet daily and weekly goals and keep your office flowing smoothly.
Note: By default, Dentrix Enterprise includes the following four appointment types: General, High Production, Medium Production, and Low Production. Appointment types can be set up in the Practice Definitions.
Procedure Time - To help you schedule appointments, you can set the number of Appointment Book units that this group of procedures typically takes to perform. One unit is equal to the time block size setting for a clinic in Appointment Book. To change the procedure time, do the following:
Click the Procedure Time search button .
The Appointment Time Pattern dialog box appears.
Do any of the following:
Drag the slider left or right to decrease or increase the time.
Click the left arrow button to decrease the time one appointment unit at a time (the length is determined by the clinic's time block size).
Click the right arrow button to increase the time one appointment unit at a time (the length is determined by the clinic's time block size).
Click between the slider and the left arrow to decrease the time 30 minutes at a time.
Click between the slider and the right arrow to increase the time 30 minutes at a time.
As you increase the length of time, white boxes with an X are added below the slider bar; as you decrease it, boxes are removed.
You can change what appears in any of the boxes below the slider bar to represent who is providing care to the patient during these procedures. To set up the correct time pattern for the appointment, click each box as needed to switch between the following states:
An X represents the provider's time.
A slash represents the assistant's time.
Blank represents chair time.
Note: You can use these assignments to help you maximize your productivity and the use of all operatories.
Click OK.
Type - If the multi-code will post a bridge, select the Bridge option; otherwise, select the Standard option.
Procedure Codes - The procedure codes and/or dental diagnostic codes to associate with the multi-code.
Note: A multi-code can consist of multiple procedure codes that require additional treatment information (such as a tooth number) to be entered when you post the multi-code. In the list of procedures for the multi-code, an asterisk (*) appears next to the code of any procedure that requires additional treatment information (such as a tooth number) to be entered when you post the multi-code.
Do any of the following as needed:
To add a procedure code, do the following:
Click Add.
The Add Code dialog box appears.
Leave the ADA Code option selected.
Either enter a procedure code in the corresponding box, or select a procedure code by doing the following:
Click the corresponding search button .
The Procedure Codes dialog appears.
In the Category list, select a category.
The corresponding procedure codes appear in the Procedure Code List to the right.
Select the correct procedure code.
Click OK.
If applicable for the selected procedure code's treatment area, additional options are available. According to the relevant treatment area do one of the following:
To pre-define surfaces, under Surface(s), select any of the checkboxes. Or, you can leave all the checkboxes clear.
To pre-define a quadrant, under Quadrant, select an option. Or, you can leave none of the options selected.
To pre-define a sextant, under Sextant, select an option. Or, you can leave none of the options selected.
Click OK.
To add a dental diagnostic code, do the following:
Click Add.
The Add Code dialog box appears.
Select the Dental Diagnostic Code option.
Either enter a diagnostic code in the corresponding box, or select a diagnostic code by doing the following:
Click the corresponding search button .
The Dental Diagnostic Codes dialog appears.
In the Diagnostic Code Category list, select a category.
The corresponding diagnostic codes appear in the list to the right.
Select the correct diagnostic code.
Click OK.
Click OK.
To edit or replace a procedure code, do the following:
In the list, select a procedure code, and then click Edit.
The Add Code dialog box appears.
If applicable for the selected procedure code's treatment area, additional options are available. To change the pre-defined surfaces, quadrant, or sextant (according to the relevant treatment area) do one of the following:
Under Surface(s), select or clear any of the checkboxes.
Under Quadrant, select a different option.
Under Sextant, select a different option.
To change the procedure code, either enter the correct procedure code in the corresponding box, or select the correct procedure code by doing the following:
Click the corresponding search button .
The Procedure Codes dialog appears.
In the Category list, select a category.
The corresponding procedure codes appear in the Procedure Code List to the right.
Select the correct procedure code.
Click OK.
If you changed the procedure code, and if applicable for the selected procedure code's treatment area, additional options appear. According to the relevant treatment area do one of the following:
To pre-define surfaces, under Surface(s), select any of the checkboxes. Or, you can leave all the checkboxes clear.
To pre-define a quadrant, under Quadrant, select an option. Or, you can leave none of the options selected.
To pre-define a sextant, under Sextant, select an option. Or, you can leave none of the options selected.
Click OK.
To replace a dental diagnostic code, do the following:
In the list, select a diagnostic code, and then click Edit.
The Add Code dialog box appears.
Either enter the correct diagnostic code in the corresponding box, or select the correct diagnostic code by doing the following:
Click the corresponding search button .
The Dental Diagnostic Codes dialog appears.
In the Diagnostic Code Category list, select a category.
The corresponding diagnostic codes appear in the list to the right.
Select the correct diagnostic code.
Click OK.
Click OK.
To remove a procedure code or dental diagnostic code, do the following:
In the list, select a code.
Click Delete.
Disable This Multi-Code - If you plan to use this multi-code, leave this checkbox clear. If you select this checkbox, all the options in the Multi-Code Editor dialog box become unavailable. Also, if you save the multi-code with this checkbox selected, the multi-code will not be available for selection wherever you can chart or post multi-codes in Dentrix Enterprise; however, it will still appear in the Multi-Code List dialog box, but "-" will appear next to its code to indicate that it is inactive.
Allow Duplicate Codes - With this checkbox clear, if this multi-code is posted more than once in a patient's record for the same date/encounter, a warning message regarding a duplicate procedure appears. With this checkbox selected, if this multi-code is posted more than once in a patient's record for the same date/encounter, a warning message regarding a duplicate procedure does not appear.
Click OK.
