You can update a subscriber's ID and signature-on-file preferences for a dental insurance plan. Also, if a secondary (or tertiary or quaternary) dental insurance plan was added or changed for the patient after a primary (or secondary or tertiary) dental insurance claim was created, you can update Dentrix Enterprise to use the new secondary (or tertiary or quaternary) dental insurance plan information to create a secondary (or tertiary or quaternary) dental insurance claim.
Notes:
Changing the subscriber information for a plan affects all family members who are covered under that plan.
Editing the subscriber information requires the "Insurance Claims, Edit" security right.
To edit subscriber information for a dental insurance claim
In the insurance claim window, double-click the Subscriber Information block.
Note: In the Subscriber Information block, the patient name, subscriber name, employer, insurance carrier name, and group plan name appear. Depending on the subscriber's signature-on-file preferences for the dental insurance plan, "Release of Info" and/or "Assign of Benefits" may appear. If you are viewing a primary dental insurance claim, and the patient has secondary dental insurance coverage, "Secondary Insurance" appears.
If applicable, do one of the following:
If the Password - Insurance Claims, Edit dialog box appears, user verification has been assigned to the "Insurance Claims, Edit" task. Do one of the following:
If your user account has been granted the "Insurance Claims, Edit" security right, enter your credentials in the User ID and Password boxes, and then click OK.
If your user account has not been granted the "Insurance Claims, Edit" security right, have a user with permission temporarily override this restriction so you can edit subscriber information this one time. The overriding user enters his or her credentials in the User ID and Password boxes and then clicks OK.
If a message appears, informing you that you do not have rights to this operation, your user account has not been granted the "Insurance Claims, Edit" security right. To have a user with permission temporarily override this restriction so you can edit subscriber information this one time, do the following:
On the message, click Yes.
In the Password - Insurance Claims, Edit dialog box, the overriding user enters his or her credentials in the User ID and Password boxes and then clicks OK.
The Patient/Insurance Information dialog box appears.
Change any of the following options as needed:
Signature on File - By default, the subscriber's signature-on-file preferences for this insurance plan (as specified in Family File) are used for all dental insurance claims for the patient. Changing these preferences in the Patient/Insurance Information dialog box affects only this claim. Select or clear the following checkboxes:
Release of Information - With this checkbox selected, the words "Signature on File" prints on insurance claims, indicating that the subscriber authorizes the release of information, and it is unnecessary for the patient to sign box 19 on the ADA claim form.
Assignment of Benefits - With this checkbox selected, you authorize payments to be sent directly to the provider instead of the subscriber, and it is unnecessary for the patient to sign box 20 on the ADA claim form.
ID Number (SS#) - By default, the subscriber's ID for this insurance plan (as specified in Family File) is used for all dental insurance claims for the patient. Changing this ID in the Patient/Insurance Information dialog box affects only this claim.
Deductible and Benefits - Update the amounts for the deductibles met and benefits applied.
Update Secondary Insurance - If a secondary (or tertiary or quaternary) dental insurance plan was added or changed for the patient after this primary (or secondary or tertiary) claim was created, the Update Secondary Insurance (or Update Tertiary Insurance or Update Quaternary Insurance) checkbox appears. To update Dentrix Enterprise to use the new secondary (or tertiary or quaternary) dental insurance plan information to create a secondary (or tertiary or quaternary) dental insurance claim, select this checkbox.
Note: Dentrix Enterprise will not use the new secondary (or tertiary or quaternary) dental insurance plan information until this checkbox has been selected.
Click OK.
