Dentrix Enterprise stores the results for a patient's diagnostic lab tests (for example, blood tests, biopsies, and cultures) that have been received through the HL7 interface. You can attach those results to any of the patient's laboratory orders.
Notes:
You cannot use this feature for items such as crowns and prosthetics.
Accessing a patient's lab orders to attach test results to an order requires the "Manage Lab Tests" security right.
To attach lab test results to a lab order
With a patient selected in Chart, do one of the following:
Click the Orders button on the toolbar.
On the File menu, click Orders.
If applicable, do one of the following:
If the Password - Manage Lab Tests dialog box appears, user verification has been assigned to the "Manage Lab Tests" task. Do one of the following:
If your user account has been granted the "Manage Lab Tests" security right, enter your credentials in the User ID and Password boxes, and then click OK.
If your user account has not been granted the "Manage Lab Tests" security right, have a user with permission temporarily override this restriction so you can manage lab orders this one time. The overriding user enters his or her credentials in the User ID and Password boxes and then clicks OK.
If a message appears, informing you that you do not have rights to this operation, your user account has not been granted the "Manage Lab Tests" security right. To have a user with permission temporarily override this restriction so you can manage lab orders this one time, do the following:
On the message, click Yes.
In the Password - Manage Lab Tests dialog box, the overriding user enters his or her credentials in the User ID and Password boxes and then clicks OK.
The Orders dialog box appears.
Notes:
All lab orders for the patient appear in the Orders list.
All test results (results attached and not attached to an order) for the patient appear in the All Results list.
Any test results that are already attached to a lab order that you select in the Orders list appear in the Results for Selected Order list.
Under All Results, select the lab test result that you want to attach to a lab order.
Click Attach to Order.
Note: This button is available only if a lab test result is selected.
The Lab Result dialog box appears.
In the Select Lab Case to Attach Lab Test Result to list, select the lab order that you want to attach the lab test result to.
Click OK.
You are returned to the Orders dialog box.
Click Close.
