TWAIN with Suni IQ Sensor Setup Guide
This guide describes the installation and setup of the Suni IQ intraoral sensor for use with Dentrix Ascend Imaging via a TWAIN driver.
Overview
Dentrix Ascend Imaging supports the acquisition of intraoral images from Suni IQ sensors via a TWAIN driver on a computer running the Windows operating system.
The Suni IQ sensor drivers must be installed on each computer that will acquire images from a Suni IQ sensor.
Note: Prior to the installation of the Suni IQ sensor drivers, the acquisition agent application must be installed on each computer that will acquire images. Refer to Setting up the acquisition agent for instructions on downloading and installing the acquisition agent.
Installation
Note: It is possible that the Suni TWAIN driver has already been installed and configured on the computer if the Suni IQ sensor was working in the office prior to the office using Dentrix Ascend Imaging. To verify if the TWAIN driver is already installed, once the acquisition agent has been installed, open Dentrix Ascend Imaging, start an acquisition, and expand the acquisition device menu to see if Suni (under TWAIN Devices) appears; if so, skip to the "Testing" section.
To install the TWAIN driver, do the following:
-
Launch the installer (SDRPlusTwainSetup.msi) as an administrator.
The SDRPlusTwain Setup Wizard starts and displays the Welcome screen.
-
Click Next.
The License Agreement screen appears.
-
Select the I Agree checkbox to agree to the terms, and then click Next.
The Confirm Installation screen appears.
-
Click Next.
When the installation is finished, the Installation Complete screen appears.
-
Click Close.
Testing
The Suni IQ Sensor is now functional in Dentrix Ascend Imaging. To acquire a test image, do the following:
-
In the Imaging Procedures list, select Bitewing Single Image.
-
Select any teeth for the test.
-
On the Acquisition Method for this imaging exam menu, select Suni (under TWAIN Devices).
-
Click Proceed with Acquisition.
Note: The first time you use the Suni TWAIN program, the computer may prompt you to download the calibration file for your device. Click OK to download the calibration file. When the download is finished, click OK to use the TWAIN interface with your device.
Then, the TWAIN interface appears.
Note: Select the Auto Capture checkbox so, when the TWAIN interface is launched in the future, the device will be ready for acquisition (unless you use multiple sensors).
-
If the "Waiting for Trigger" message does not appear, click Capture to begin the acquisition.
Note: If the "Waiting for Trigger" message is displayed, you must click Cancel Capture before you attempt to switch the sensor that is being used. If two sensors are plugged in at the same time, you must choose which sensor you want to use to acquire images. When switching between sensors or having two sensors plugged in at the same time, it is recommended that the Auto Capture checkbox not be selected.
-
Click Finish Acquisition when you are finished capturing images.
Troubleshooting
To confirm that the Suni IQ device driver is loaded and recognized by Windows, do the following:
-
Plug in a Suni IQ sensor.
-
Open Device Manager.
-
Expand the Universal Serial Bus controllers category.
-
Right-click Digital Radiography Device (SDR303E), and then select Properties.
-
Make sure "This device is working properly" appears.
If the device does not appear in Device Manager, or if Device Manager states that "This device is not working properly," one of the following issues might be the cause:
-
The drivers are not properly installed. Try removing and reinstalling them.
-
The sensor has a bad connection or is defective.
