GxPicture with KaVo IXS Sensor Setup Guide

This guide describes the installation and setup of the KaVo IXS intraoral sensor for use with Dentrix Ascend Imaging via the GxPicture universal driver suite.

Overview

Dentrix Ascend Imaging supports the acquisition of intraoral images from the KaVo IXS intraoral X-ray sensor on a computer running the Windows operating system.

Note: Prior to the installation of the GxPicture device, the acquisition agent application must be installed on each computer that will acquire images. Refer to Setting up the acquisition agent for instructions on downloading and installing the acquisition agent.

Minimum versions

  • Minimum Acquisition Agent required: v1.2.7510.29950

  • Minimum GxPicture required: v4.0.2

Installation

To install GxPicture, do the following:

  1. Download GxPicture (https://dexis.com/en-us/download-center).

    Note: This guide uses the GxPicture 4.2.0 (Web Installer).

  2. Right-click the downloaded .zip file, and then select Properties. On the General tab of the Properties sheet, clear the Unblock checkbox, and then click Apply and OK.

  3. Right-click the zip file, and then select Extract All. Follow the instructions to extract the contents.

  4. Right-click GxPicture_Setup_Launcher_[xxxx].exe, and then select Run as administrator.

    The GxPicture (Web Installer) starts and displays the License Agreement screen.

  5. Select the I accept the agreement checkbox, and then click Next.

    The Ready to Install screen appears.

  6. Click Install.

    The Status screen appears.

  7. Click Install.

  8. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

    After DEXIS Software Manager is installed, the GxPicture Driver Suite - InstallShield Wizard starts.

  9. Click OK.

    The Welcome screen appears.

  10. Click Next.

    The License Agreement screen appears.

  11. Select the I accept the terms of the license agreement checkbox, and then click Next.

    The Select your Dental Imaging Software screen appears.

  12. Select the Other Software - GxPicture Filters Enabled* option.

    The Select Products screen appears.

  13. Select the IXS/DEXIS Titanium checkbox to install the corresponding drivers, and then click Next.

    The Ready to Install the Program screen appears.

  14. Click Install.

    The GxFilter Setup dialog box appears.

  15. Select the DEXIS Titanium / IDX checkbox to enable GxFilters for that device, and then click Set.

    The Complete screen appears.

  16. Click Finish.

  17. If a message appears and asks if you want to reboot, click Yes.

    There should now be a KaVo Intraoral Sensors icon in the system tray.

  18. Connect the KaVo IXS sensor to the computer

    The calibration files will start downloading automatically. Do not disconnect the sensor from the computer until the download is complete.

    Note: It typically takes a couple of minutes for the calibration file to download before the sensor can be used.

    If the KaVo Intraoral Sensors icon is green, the sensor is ready to use.

Testing

The KaVo IXS sensor is now functional in Dentrix Ascend Imaging. To acquire a test image, do the following:

  1. In the Imaging Procedures list, select Bitewing Single Image.

  2. Select any teeth for the test.

  3. On the Acquisition Method for this imaging exam menu, select GxPicture Device.

  4. Click Proceed with Acquisition.

  5. Acquire an image using the KaVo IXS sensor.

    Note: If an error appears, try restarting the computer to correct the issue.

  6. Click Finish Acquisition.

Troubleshooting

App

Verify that the device app is running by looking in the system tray. Make sure the app's icon is green.

Device Manager

Make sure that the KaVo IXS sensor is detected by the computer. Open Device Manager, and then verify that the device appears.
