Editing custom treatment consent messages

You can edit any custom treatment consent messages as needed. Each location in your organization can have a different set of custom treatment consent messages.

Note: A printed treatment plan or a consent form will have one of the financial disclaimers, the Consent for Dental Treatment message, and any applicable custom treatment consent messages.

To edit a custom treatment consent message

  1. If you are not already viewing the correct location, select it on the Location menu.

  2. On the Settings menu, under Patient Care, select Treatment Plan Settings.

The Treatment Consent Messages page opens.

  3. Select a custom message.

The options for customizing the message become available.

  4. Change the title, message text, and associated procedures as needed.

    Set up the following options:

    • English Message - From the Language list, select English. Change the title of the message and/or the message text. There is no limit to the length of the message text, but it must be at least 20 characters long. Patients whose records have English as their preferred language will see this message.

    • Spanish Message - From the Language list, select Spanish. Change the title of the message and/or the message text. There is no limit to the length of the message text, but it must be at least 20 characters long. Patients whose records have Spanish as their preferred language will see this message; otherwise, the patients will see the English message.

    • Procedures - If procedures have been associated with the message. The message will appear on consent forms only when you treatment plan the specified procedures. Do any of the following:

      • To remove procedures, click (or tap) the corresponding Remove buttons .

      • To quickly remove all procedures at one time, click (or tap) Delete All.

      • To add procedures, do the following:

        1. Click Add Procedure.

The Add Procedure dialog box appears.

        2. Select the desired procedure codes.

          Tips:

          • To search for procedures by code or description, enter your search criteria in the Search By Procedure Code box to view the matching procedures codes. Then, select the desired procedure codes.

          • To locate procedures by category, select the Add By Categories checkbox, select a category on the left to view the corresponding procedure codes on the right. Then, either select the desired procedure codes, or select the Select All Procedures checkbox to select all procedure codes in the selected category.

        3. Click (or tap) Select to attach the selected procedure codes to the message.

Note: You can associate a given procedure code with multiple consent messages. However, be aware that, when you treatment plan that procedure, all the consent messages that have that procedure associated with them will be included on the consent form.

        4. Repeat steps a-c as needed to add other procedure codes.

  5. Click (or tap) Save.
