DEXIS Software Bridge Setup Guide

This guide describes the installation and setup of the DEXIS software bridge for use with Dentrix Ascend Imaging.

Overview

Dentrix Ascend Imaging supports the acquisition of intraoral and extraoral images from the DEXIS 9.x or DEXIS Imaging Suite 10.x software on a computer running the Windows operating system. The DEXIS software must be installed on each computer that the software bridge will be used.

Notes:

  • It is recommended that all acquisition devices are configured in the DEXIS software on each computer that will acquire images using the DEXIS software bridge.

  • Prior to the installation of any imaging devices or setting up the DEXIS software, the acquisition agent application must be installed on each computer that will acquire images using the software bridge. Refer to Setting up the acquisition agent for instructions on downloading and installing the acquisition agent.

Configuration - DEXIS 9.x

To configure DEXIS 9.x, do the following:

  1. Open the DEXIS 9.x application.

  2. Go to Preferences, and then select the General tab.

  3. Set the Image Format to Tiff.

  4. Click the Folders button. Take note of the Software Folder and Data Folder, and then click Done.

  5. Click Done to exit the DEXIS software.

  6. Right-click the Acquisition Agent icon in the system tray, and then click Preferences.

  7. On the Software Bridge tab, under DEXIS, make sure that the Application Path ("Software Folder" in DEXIS) and Images Path ("Data Folder" in DEXIS) are correct.

  8. Click Done.

Configuration - DEXIS Imaging Suite 10.x

  1. Open the DEXIS Imaging Suite 10.x application.

  2. Go to Preferences.

  3. Select the DEXIS page. Set the Image Format to Tiff.

  4. Select the General page. Take note of the Installation Directory.

  5. Select the Data page. Take note of the Patient/Image Data Directory.

  6. Click OK to exit the DEXIS software.

  7. Right-click the Acquisition Agent icon in the system tray, and then click Preferences.

  8. On the Software Bridge tab, under DEXIS, make sure that the Application Path ("Installation Directory" in DEXIS) and Images Path ("Patient/Image Data Directory" in DEXIS) are correct.

  9. Click Done.

Testing

The DEXIS software bridge is now functional in Dentrix Ascend Imaging. To acquire a test intraoral image, do the following:

  1. In the Imaging Procedures list, select Bitewing Single Image.

  2. Select any teeth for the test.

  3. On the Acquisition Method for this imaging exam menu, select Sidexis Software.

  4. Click Proceed with Acquisition.

  5. Acquire an image in the DEXIS software. The captured image appears in Dentrix Ascend Imaging automatically.

Troubleshooting

If you attempt to acquire an image by clicking Proceed with Acquisition and receive an error message, refer to the applicable "Configuration" section.
