Customizing conditions

Conditions are the SNODENT, SNOMED CT, and ICD-10 diagnosis codes that you can use at your locations. You can customize only the description of a condition, its inclusion or exclusion from the favorites list, and the potential treatment options. Changing the description of a condition affects all instances of that condition that were charted previously in patients' records. Also, changes to a condition affect all locations in your organization.

To customize a condition

  1. On the Settings menu, under Production, click (or tap) Procedure Codes & Conditions.

The Procedure Codes & Conditions page opens.

  2. On the Conditions tab of the Procedure Codes & Conditions page, select a condition.

    Notes:

    • To quickly locate a condition, type a code or description in the Search for specific condition box near the top of the page.

    • To filter the list of conditions, from the View list, select whether you want to view all conditions or only the favorites (most commonly used conditions).

The Edit Condition Code dialog box appears.

  3. Change the description, and/or choose whether to include or exclude the condition as a favorite as needed.

    Set up the following options:

    • Description - Type a description. You can search for conditions by the description wherever you can enter a condition.

      Notes:

      • Changing the description of the condition here affects all instances of the condition that have been charted previously.

      • You can also search for conditions by the SNODENT, SNOMED CT, or ICD-10 code.

    • Add to favorites - Favorite conditions are the ones that you use most commonly. Set this switch to Yes to mark this condition as a favorite so that you have quick and easy access to the procedure when you are charting conditions. Favorites have a yellow star next to them in the list of conditions on the Procedure Codes & Conditions page. To make this condition not be a favorite, set this switch to No.

    • Clinical Decision Support (CDS) - You can associate procedures with this condition to have Dentrix Ascend recommend those procedures as potential treatment when diagnosing this condition during the charting of a quick exam. To add a procedure, begin typing a procedure code or description in the Add a procedure here search box, continue typing as needed to narrow the results list, and then click (or tap) the desired procedure.

      Notes:

      • You can add any number of procedure codes and multi-codes to the condition. During the charting of a quick exam, when you select this condition, the associated procedures appear in alphabetical order at the top of the Treatment Plan list regardless of the selected order in the Edit Condition Code dialog box.

      • To remove a procedure code, click (or tap) the corresponding Remove button .

  4. Click (or tap) Save.
