Changing appointment statuses

When scheduling or editing an appointment, you can select a status to help you and others track the appointment.

Note: The icon that represents the current status of an appointment appears on that appointment on the schedule. The following statuses are available:

Late

Confirmed

Here

Unconfirmed

Ready

Left Message

Chair

Broken

Checkout

No Show

Complete

To change the status of an appointment

  1. On the Schedule menu, click (or tap) Calendar.

    The Calendar page opens.

  2. Click (or tap) an appointment.

    The Appointment Information panel opens.

  3. Select a Status.

    Select one of the following statuses:

    • Late - The patient has not arrived at the office yet, and the starting time of the appointment has passed.

    • Here - The patient has arrived at the office for his or her appointment and is ready to check in.

    • Ready - The patient has checked in and is waiting to be seen.

    • Chair - The patient is in the operatory chair and is receiving treatment.

    • Checkout - The patient is ready to check out.

    • Complete - The patient's visit is complete, and he or she has checked out. Changing the status of an appointment for a new patient to "Complete" causes the status of the patient to change from New to Active.

    • Confirmed - The patient has been reminded of his or her upcoming appointment. With this status, the patient will appear in the Confirmed section of the Unconfirmed Appts page.

    • Unconfirmed - The patient has not yet been reminded of his or her upcoming appointment. With this status, the patient will appear in the Unconfirmed section of the Unconfirmed Appts page.

    • Left Message - A message was left (as a voicemail or with a family member) for the patient as a reminder of his or her upcoming appointment. With this status, the patient will appear in the Unconfirmed section of the Unconfirmed Appts page.

    • Broken - The patient canceled his or her appointment. With this status, the patient will appear on the Unscheduled List. Also, you can specify the date and time when the appointment was missed, specify a reason that the appointment was missed, and reschedule the appointment.

    • No Show - The patient did not show up for his or her scheduled appointment. With this status, the patient will appear on the Unscheduled List. Also, you can specify the date and time when the appointment was missed, specify a reason that the appointment was missed, and reschedule the appointment.

  4. Click (or tap) Save.
