Introduction to Electronic Remittance Advice Processing

An Electronic Remittance Advice (ERA) document is an electronic data file of an Explanation of Benefits (EOB) provided by an insurance carrier. They break down and explain a claim's payment and adjustments. An ERA allows the payment to be posted electronically without relying on staff to manually hand-key its information and payment amounts into Dentrix. Overall, ERAs simplify the entire insurance remittance process as your practice realizes these benefits:

To receive and process ERAs, you must first register with eServices, and eClaims must be installed and working with your version of Dentrix. Then, you must enroll for ERA service with participating insurance carriers. The following two lessons will discuss the registration and enrollment processes, and the ensuing video will demonstrate how to batch-process ERAs in Dentrix!

Note: Dentrix often uses Electronic Explanation of Benefits (eEOB) instead of ERA. They are the same, and they perform the same functions. Consequently, Dentrix may sometimes use eEOB instead of ERA.
