Accepting referrals, especially from your patients, grows your practice. That being the case, you may want to consider giving patients and others who provide you with referrals a gratuity in return for their efforts on your behalf. The type of gratuity you give is up to you, and Dentrix provides you with the tools to define and record the type of gratuity you want to give. Gratuities can include items that have a monetary value, such as gift certificates or movie tickets, but they could also be something as simple, yet thoughtful, as a thank you card or an email message.
To add a gratuity
1. With a patient selected, in the Family File, double-click the Referred By block.
The Patient Referrals dialog box appears.
2. In the Referred By area, click Analysis.
The Referral Analysis dialog box appears.
3. To record a gratuity that you gave to the referral source, click New Gratuity.
The New Gratuity dialog box appears.
4. From the Type list, click <Add Gratuity Type>.
The Add Gratuity Type dialog box appears.
a. Type a gratuity type and value in their respective fields.
b. Click Add, and then click Close.
5. Select the type of gratuity from the Type list.
6. If you do not want Dentrix to record the gratuity in the Office Journal, clear Add to Journal.
7. To change providers, click the Provider search button, and select the provider you want to record the Office Journal entry for.
8. To view an analysis of the gratuities, you have given, click Gratuity Analysis.
The Gratuity Analysis dialog box appears listing all gratuities and their total value.
9. To edit a gratuity, click Edit.
