Clinical notes templates provide a way for you to follow an orderly format when entering notes for a patient. Use the templates as a uniform guide when you are collecting patient information. Dentrix provides 70 default clinical note templates for you to use. You can edit these clinical note templates.
To edit a clinical note template
1. Select a patient.
2. In the Patient Chart, click View, point to Panels, and then click Clinical Notes.
The Clinical Notes panel appears.
3. In the Clinical Note Template toolbar, click Template Setup.
The Template Setup dialog box appears.
4. Select the template that you want to edit, and then click Edit Template.
The Edit Clinical Note Template dialog box appears.
5. To edit a template's text, do one or more of the following:
· Cut, copy, and paste text: Select the text that you want to cut, copy, or paste, and then click the corresponding toolbar button.
· Insert a date line: Click the point of insertion, and then click the Insert Date Line toolbar button.
· Check spelling: Click the Check Spelling toolbar button.
· Change font size: Click the Display Font Size toolbar button, and then click the desired option: X-Large, Large, Medium, Small (default).
6. To insert a Clinical Note prompt into the note text, select the prompt, and then click Insert Prompt in Text.
7. To save the changes to the template, click OK.
