Using the Patient Lookup
Use the Patient Lookup to locate and access a registered patient's record.
To look up a patient
1. From the File menu, click Patient Processing.
The Patient Lookup dialog box appears.
2. You can search for the patient by name or other criteria:
· Name - As you type the last name of the patient in the Last, First Name field, the list of patients changes dynamically to display only the patient names that match the letters being entered.
· Other Fields - To search by other criteria, do the following:
a. Click
the Search Other Fields button
.
The Patient Lookup dialog box changes.
b. Type the value that you want to search by in one or more of the following fields: First, MI, Last, Suffix, #, Dr, Subscriber #, Soc, Sec. #, Home, Business, Balance, Patient, Insurance, Birth date, and Age (the availability of this option is controlled by a preference).
Only the last four digits of the Social Security number are visible. The rest of the digits appear as asterisks (*).
c. Click the binoculars button to view the results of the search.
The Patient Lookup dialog box returns to its original state, and any patients matching the criteria are listed.
· Location - Select the Location that you want to filter the list of patients by, or leave the default "<All Locations>" selected to search for a patient regardless of the location.
· Show Inactives only – Select this check box to have the list display only those patients who have a status of Inactive.
· Show active and inactives – Select this check box to have the list display patients who have a status of Active or Inactive.
If you cannot find the patient, he or she might not be a registered patient.
Tips:
· The indicators in the columns to the left of the patients’ names signify the following:
· C – The patient has been sent to collections (according to the patient’s billing cycle).
· G – The patient is a guarantor.
· Tx – The patient has a treatment plan.
· M – The patient has one or more markers attached to his or her record.
· Names in bold text are minors.
3. To open a patient's record, do one of the following:
· Select
the patient whose account you want to access, and then click the Open button .
· Double-click the patient whose account you want to access.
The Patient Information Center for the patient opens. Also, the Patient Lookup dialog box will be minimized.
Tip: You can re-open the Patient Information Center for any of the last 10 patients selected. From the Window menu on the main window, click a patient name.
