Pre-authorization number preference

For any given day, when posting to an account that has an insurance profile that is a Medicaid Plan, you only have to enter the pre-authorization number for the first charge with a certain preference setting enabled. For any additional charges (with a fee greater than zero) that you post on a given day, the dialog box that appears and asks you for the pre-authorization number has a field that is automatically populated with the number you entered for the previous charge.

To enable this preference:

1.   From the Utilities menu, click Preferences.

The Preferences dialog box appears.

2.   On the Operation tab, under Billing, select the Medicaid: prompt for pre-authorization number check box to have the pre-authorization number that you entered for the first charge for a patient on a given day be entered automatically when you charge the next procedure for the same patient on the same day.

3.   Click Ok.
