Adding new guarantors

When you are registering a new patient, if the patient’s guarantor is not a registered patient, you can add a new guarantor record. You can also, add a guarantor record to attach to a patient from that patient's Patient Information Center.

To add a new guarantor

1.   From one of the following locations, double-click in the Guarantor field:

·        The Register New Patient dialog box.

·        The Demographics section on the General tab of the Patient Information Center.

The Patient Lookup dialog box appears.

2.   Click New Guarantor.

The Register New Guarantor dialog box appears.

3.   Set up the following options:

·        Type – Select a patient type, such as “Non-Patient,” for the guarantor.

·        Prefix/First/Last name – Type the guarantor’s full name.

·        DOB – Type the guarantor’s date of birth.

·        Sex – Select the guarantor’s gender.

·        Soc. Secur. – Type the guarantor’s Social Security number.

·        Provider – Select a provider to associate with the guarantor.

·        Address –Type the guarantor’s address.

·        Phones – Type the guarantor’s Home phone number. Type his or her Work phone number, including the extension (X) if applicable.

·        Location of family chart – Select the location for the guarantor’s record.

4.   Click OK.
