Adding documents

You can add documents and images from the hard drive of your computer, the hard drive of any computer on your office’s network, or other storage media.

To add a document or image

1.   In the Document Center, in the navigation pane (on the left), select the patient name or any category (or right-click it).

2.   Click New .

3.   Browse for and select the documents and/or images that you want to import.

You can add documents and images of the following types:

·        MS Word (*.DOC, *.DOCX)

·        MS Excel Spreadsheet (*.XLS, *.XLSX)

·        MS Excel Worksheet (*.XLW, *.XLWX)

·        MS Excel Comma Delimited (*.CSV)

·        Rich Text Format (*.RTF)

·        EndoVision Native Format (*TX, *.TXW)

·        Internet (*.HTML, *.HTM)

·        Adobe Portable Document Format (*.PDF)

·        PaperPort (*.MAX)

·        Plain Text (*.TXT)

·        eXtensible Markup Language (*.XML)

·        Bitmap (*.BMP)

·        Joint Photographic Experts (*.JPG, *.JPEG)

·        Graphics Interchange Format (*.GIF)

·        Tagged image File Format (*.TIF, *.TIFF)

·        Run Length Encoded Bitmap (*.RLE)

·        Personal Computer Exchange (*.PCX)

·        Portable Network Graphic (*.PNG)

·        Windows Metfile (*.WMF)

·        Enhanced Windows Metafile (*.EMF)

4.   Click Open.

A message appears and asks whether you want to move the selected documents/images from the original location to the document_center folder on the server (the original file will no longer exist in the original location) or place a copy of the original documents/images in the document_center directory on the server (the original file is not moved).

Note: When you are deciding whether to move the original file or create a copy, take into consideration the amount of space on the server’s hard drive. Copying creates a duplicate, thus reducing the free space on the hard drive.

5.   Click Copy to make a copy of the file or Move to move the file.
