Updating fees
To maintain the integrity of your treatment plan estimates, procedure fees that are assigned to a treatment plan are never automatically updated. If your fees have changed since you devised the treatment plan for the patient, you can update the patient’s treatment plan to reflect any fee schedule changes.
To update the fees for a single or multiple treatment plans
1. Select a patient.
2. In the Chart toolbar, click Estimator.
The Estimator window appears.
3. In the Estimator toolbar, click Update Fees.
The Update Treatment Plan Fees dialog box appears.
4. Select one of the following:
· Current Patient – Updates the fees for the currently selected patient only.
· All Patients – Updates the fees for all patients in your practice with a treatment plan.
5. To update the procedure codes in a specified range.
a. Click the From search button, and then select the starting procedure for the range.
The Procedure Codes dialog box appears.
b. Select a category from the list, and then click OK.
c. Click the To search button, and then select the ending procedure for the range.
Note: To update all procedures, set the From and To fields to <ALL>.
6. To update procedures prior to a certain date, type the date in the Procedure Date Before field.
Only treatment-planned procedures dated on or before this date will be updated with the new fees.
7. Under Tx Provider, do one of the following:
· Select the provider or providers that you want to update treatment-planned procedures for.
· Select ALL to update the treatment-planned procedures for all providers.
8. Under Billing Type for Patient's Guarantor, do one of the following:
· Select the billing type or types that you want to update treatment-planned procedures for.
· Select ALL to update the procedures for all billing types.
Note: This option is greyed out if you selected Current Patient.
9. To update the fees according to the options you specified, click Update.
Note: In some instances, certain fees will not update if the patient’s treatment plan is open at another computer. If this occurs, a message appears containing a log file with the patient’s name. Print the log file and perform the update on the selected patient at a later time.
