Attaching diagnostic codes to procedures

You can attach up to four diagnostic codes to one or more procedures.

Note: You cannot mix ICD-9-CM and ICD-10-CM codes.

To attach a diagnostic code to a procedure

1.   In progress notes, select the procedure that you want to attach the diagnostic code to.

2.   In the Chart toolbar, click Dental Diagnosis, and then click Attach to Selected Procedure(s).

The Select Diagnostic Code(s) dialog box appears.

3.   In the Included Diagnostic Codes list, select one of the following code types:

·        All – Lists every diagnostic code that you have added.

·        Cross Coded – Lists any diagnostic codes that you have cross coded.

·        ICD-10-CM – Lists only ICD-10-CM diagnostic codes.

·        ICD-9-CM – Lists only ICD-9-CM diagnostic codes.

·        Other – Lists only diagnostic codes, such as Hypertension and Dental Fluorosis, that appear as conditions in the progress notes.

·        SNODENT – Lists only SNODENT diagnostic codes.

4.   Select the appropriate codes from the list, and then click Add.

The codes appear in the Selected Diagnostic Codes list box.

5.   Click OK.

The letter“"D"”or the abbreviation“"CON" appears in the Description of the procedures you selected to attach the diagnostic code to.
