The U.S. National Library of Medicine (NLM) may update the RxNorm online database as often as weekly or monthly, so Dentrix Enterprise provides a way for you to update the codes in Dentrix Enterprise manually, using the RXNorm Update Utility.
Important: Before you attempt to run the RXNorm Update Utility, you must do the following:
Request a Unified Medical Language System (UMLS) license and create a UMLS Terminology Services (UTS) account on the National Institutes of Health (NIH) website: go to https://uts.nlm.nih.gov, click Sign Up, and then complete the steps to request a license and create an account. Know the password of the Enterprise user account for your Dentrix Enterprise database.
