Due to licensing issues with the American Medical Association, Dentrix Enterprise does not come with the medical billing codes already set up. These codes must be manually added to the program. Once the medical codes have been added, you must link the ADA-CDT dental codes with their AMA-CPT code counterparts. You can obtain information on the codes and descriptions that should be added from reference books provided by the AMA. Please contact your local chapter of the American Medical Association for assistance.
Dentrix Enterprise includes an exhaustive medical insurance cross-coding system that will allow you to quickly bill both medical and dental carriers for the same procedures. You can flag certain dental procedures (ADA-CDT codes) as billable to medical insurance and cross code those ADA-CDT codes with the appropriate AMA-CPT and ICD-9-CM and/or ICD-10-CM codes. You can also cross code AMA-CPT codes with ICD-9-CM and ICD-10-CM diagnostic codes.
If you do not want to spend the time researching and adding the medical codes to Dentrix Enterprise, the Medical Cross Coding DataPak is available that will add all of the codes (except ICD-10-CM codes) for you. Please contact Dentrix Enterprise at 1-800-336-8749 for more information on obtaining the Medical Cross Coding DataPak.
