To attach digital X-ray images that were acquired using MiPACS to insurance claims, you must first import the images that have been exported from MiPACS into the patient’s Document Center. For information about exporting images from MiPACS, see the topic about exporting images from MiPACS.
Note: This topic is intended for Indian Health Service facilities only.
To import an image
In Document Center, from the Acquire menu, click Import from File.
The Import dialog appears.
To navigate to the directory where the image file that was exported from MiPACS is located, in the address box at the top of the dialog box, enter \\[EDR server name]\Doc_Center\MiPACS Export\[patient Name_ description_date].
Note: Replace [EDR server name] with a server name. Replace [patient Name_ description_date] with a folder name, such as JohnDoe_PA8_080821.
Select the image file.
Click Open.
The Document Information dialog box appears.
Enter the appropriate document information as explained in the topic about entering document information. For example, you might specify something similar to the following:
Document Type Template – Imported Images for Insurance.
Document Type – MiPACS Image.
Description – pa of tooth #12.
Click OK.
Now, delete the image file that was exported from MiPACS:
On your computer, open File Explorer.
In the address box at the top of the window, enter \\[EDR server name]\Doc_Center\MiPACS Export.
Note: Replace [EDR server name] with a server name.
Select the folder that contains the exported image, such as JohnDoe_PA8_080821.
Note: If the folder contains multiple files, and you want to delete only one image, open the folder, and then select the image file to be deleted.
Click Delete.
Now, you can attach the image that was imported into the patient’s Document Center to an insurance claim for that patient. For information on how to attach a Document Center image to a claim, see the topic about including attachments with dental insurance claims.
