11.0.44 Release Guide

This guide provides information about the new software release. This guide includes a brief description of the new features and enhancements available in this release and instructions on how to use the new features and enhancements.

Before installing or upgrading Dentrix Enterprise, make sure your computers comply with the latest system requirements.

Feature list

This release includes the following new features and enhancements:

Patient Health Assessments (Cures Act; for USDI V1 compliance):

The layout of the Enter Patient Health Assessment and Edit Patient Health Assessment dialog boxes has been enhanced. The general options are laid out horizontally across the top, the Vital Signs are laid out horizontally below that, and the Measurements (formerly labeled "Demographics") are laid out horizontally below that.

If the patient's weight and height/length have been entered in an assessment, the Weight for Length Percentile now appears in the dialog box for your reference.

You can now enter the patient's head occipital-frontal circumference in an assessment in the new Head Occipital-frontal Circumference box. The Head Occipital-frontal Circumference Percentile now appears in the dialog box for your reference as well.

C-CDA Files (Cures Act; for USDI V1 compliance):

In the Vital Signs section of an exported C-CDA file, the following information for the patient now appears:

Weight-for-length percentile.

Head occipital-frontal circumference and percentile.

In the Patient Information section of an exported C-CDA file, the following information for the patient now appears:

Current primary address and most recent previous address (if the patient's primary address was changed in Family File).

Email address (if entered in Family File).

Type of phone number (such as "Mobile"). It appears next to the patient's phone number.

Current name and previous name (if the patient's name was changed in Family File).

Middle name or initial (if entered in Family File).

eClaims Integration - You can now configure eClaims in the Integration Settings. Additionally, you can specify which Data Services account (eTrans account) to use when a claim is submitted.

Notes:

In previous versions, setting up eClaims required the "Practice Preferences Setup" security right. With this version, the "Integration Settings, Data Services" security right is required.

In previous versions, you accessed eClaims settings from Maintenance > Practice Setup > Electronic Claims Setup.

Data Extraction Menu - In Office Manager, there is a new Data Extraction menu. The menu provides access to the following:

National Patient Information Reporting System (NPIRS) - (For IHS facilities only) From Dentrix Enterprise (DXE), you can now generate encounter and registration files for the National Patient Information Reporting System (NPIRS).

Notes:

This data extraction utility is available only if the global setting NPIRS/NDW Data Extraction is enabled.

To store the necessary information for the files, the DDB_IHS_DEF_BASE and DDB_IHS_DEF_TYPE_BASE tables have been added to the database. Also, you can customize the new IHS standard code definitions in Office Manager: on the Maintenance menu, point to Practice Setup, and then click IHS Standard Codes Definitions.

In previous versions of DXE, a stored procedure was used to collect encounters and demographic data, and a csv-formatted file had to be modified manually to create a report to store in the National Data Warehouse (NDW).

File Exchange - In previous versions, you accessed this feature from the Analysis menu.

RxBE (340B) Export - In previous versions, you accessed this feature from the Analysis menu.

Dynamic Reporting:

Enhancements have been made to improve the filtering, layout, readability, and understanding of the data presented.

You can now specify which columns will appear on exported reports.

Transaction Summary Report - In DXOne Reporting, the Transaction Summary Report is now available for any organization.

Production Summary Report - In DXOne Reporting, the Select ADA Codes filter for the Production Summary Report no longer includes procedure codes that are flagged as conditions.

FHIR (For military facilities only):

Dentrix Enterprise now supports FHIR R4 (Release 4).

You can now configure your FHIR integration in the Integration Settings.

XRayVision Integration - (For military facilities only) In the Integration Settings, you can now configure Dentrix Enterprise to open Apteryx's cloud-based imaging program for a patient selected in Chart when you click the XV Link button (green XV icon) on the toolbar.

Using the features

The following sections contain instructions about how to use the new features and enhancements of this release.

Patient Health Assessments

The layout of the Enter Patient Health Assessment and Edit Patient Health Assessment dialog boxes has been enhanced, and there are new options.

To enter a patient health assessment

With a patient selected in Chart, click the Patient Health Assessment button on the toolbar.

The Patient Health Assessment dialog box appears.

Click Add.

The Enter Patient Health Assessment dialog box appears.

The general options are laid out horizontally across the top, the Vital Signs are laid out horizontally below that, and the Measurements (formerly labeled "Demographics") are laid out horizontally below that.

Also, an assessment can now include the following:

Weight-to-Length Percentile - If the patient's weight and height/length have been entered in an assessment, the Weight-to-Length Percentile now appears for your reference. For a patient who is three years old or younger, the weight-to-length percentile is calculated automatically according to the sex of the child. For a patient who is older than 36 months, the weight-to-length percentile is always 0.

Head Occipital-frontal Circumference - You can now enter the patient's head occipital-frontal circumference in an assessment in the new Head Occipital-frontal Circumference box. The Head Occipital-frontal Circumference Percentile now appears for your reference as well. For a patient who is three years old or younger, the head occipital-frontal circumference percentile is calculated automatically. For a patient who is older than 36 months, the head occipital-frontal circumference percentile is always 0.

Note: The measurement units ("cm" for Metric Standard or "in" for US Standard) for the head occipital-frontal circumference correspond to the specified units for your organization.

In Office Manager, on the Maintenance menu, point to Practice Setup, and then click Integration Settings.

The Integration Settings dialog box appears.

Select the Data Services tab on the left.

The options become available on the right.

Select the EClaims tab.

Note: The eClaims Path, which is where the eTrans program files are installed, appears for your reference.

Under When Sending A Claim Use the Data Service Account, select one of the following options to specify which Data Services account (eTrans account) to use when a claim is submitted:

that is assigned to the claim's clinic - The account that is associated with a claim's clinic.

chosen by a prompt when claim is sent - The account that a user selects when submitting a claim (Dentrix Enterprise prompts the user to select the account).

always use selected user for any claim on any clinic - The same account for all claims. With this option selected, select the correct account from the corresponding list.

Set up the other options, which are the same as in previous versions, as needed.

Click OK.

Data Extraction Menu

In Office Manager, there is a new Data Extraction menu.

The menu provides access to the following:

File Exchange (in previous versions, you accessed this feature from the Analysis menu)

RxBE (340B) Export (in previous versions, you accessed this feature from the Analysis menu)

IHS Standard Codes Definitions

Default definitions for the standard IHS codes are available, but you can customize the definitions as needed.

To customize definitions

In Office Manager, on the Maintenance menu, point to Practice Setup, and then click IHS Standard Codes Definitions.

The IHS Standard Codes Definitions dialog box appears.

In the Definition Type list, select one of the following options:

Admission (SCB)

Area (SCB)

Blood Quantum (SCB)

Classification (Beneficiary) (SCB)

Clinic (SCB)

Clinical Services (SCB)

Community (SCB)

ER Disposition Codes (SCS)

Facility (SCB)

Inpatient Diagnostic Codes (SCS)

Insurance Category Codes (SCS)

Provider Affiliation (SCS)

Service Category Codes (SCS)

Service Eligibility Codes (SCS)

Service Type Codes (SCS)

Services Rendered by Provider (SCB)

State (SCB)

Tribe (SCB)

Type of Provider (SCB)

Add, edit, and delete the corresponding definitions as needed.

NPIRS Reports

From Dentrix Enterprise, you can now generate encounter and registration files for the National Patient Information Reporting System (NPIRS).

To generate the reports

In Office Manager, on the Data Extraction menu, click National Patient Information Reporting System (NPIRS).

The National Patient Information Reporting System (NPIRS) dialog box appears.

Set up the options on the following tabs:

Create Extraction

Setup

To save the options as the default for the next time you generate the reports, click Save.

To verify mappings, click Mapping Data Field Validation.

Click Run.

On the message that appears when the extraction is complete, click OK.

Note: To view the extracted data, open the .txt file that was created in the specified export directory.

Dynamic Reporting

For Dynamic Reporting, enhancements have been made to improve the filtering, layout, readability, and understanding of the data presented. Also, you can now specify which columns will appear on exported reports.

Selecting Visualizations

While in setup mode, expand a summary tile's Visualization menu. Notice that the selected option now has color.

Selecting Filters

While in view or setup mode, you can now quickly change your selections for the following filters using a list of items instead of a dialog box (although that method is still available): Clinics, Provider Specialty, Providers, Billing Type, Category, and ADA Code. Also, notice that there is now a counter that indicates how many items are selected.

Resizing of Pie Charts

While in view mode, a pie chart now resizes automatically to fill as much of the summary tile as possible.

Focusing on Pie Charts

While in view mode, when you position your pointer over an item of a pie chart's legend, now the corresponding piece of the pie chart keeps its normal color, and the other pieces become lighter in color. This helps draw your attention to the applicable area of the chart.

Exporting Reports

While viewing an information page for a metric, to export details in specific columns only, do the following:

On the Export Report menu, click Select Columns To Export.

The Select Columns To Report dialog box appears.

Clear the checkboxes of the details to exclude from the report.

Click Export Report.

Transaction Summary Report

In DXOne Reporting, the Transaction Summary Report is now available for any organization. The Transaction Summary Report lists financial transactions (charges, payments, credit adjustments, charge adjustments, finance charges, and late charges) that have been posted to Ledger.

To generate the report

In DXOne Reporting, select Analysis, and then double-click Transaction Summary Report.

The Transaction Summary Report dialog box appears.

Set up the filters as needed.

Click OK to preview the report.

Production Summary Report

In DXOne Reporting, the Select ADA Codes filter for the Production Summary Report no longer includes procedure codes that are flagged as conditions.

Note: To flag an existing procedure code as a condition, in the Procedure Code Editor - Existing dialog box, under Treatment Flags, select the Condition checkbox.

To filter the report by ADA Codes

In DXOne Reporting, select Analysis, and then double-click Production Summary.

The Production Summary dialog box appears.

Click the ADA Code search button .

The Select ADA Codes dialog box appears.

Note: If you search for a procedure code that has been flagged as a condition, it does not appear in the results list.

FHIR (Military facilities only)

You can now configure your FHIR integration in the Integration Settings.

To configure FHIR integration

In Office Manager, on the Maintenance menu, point to Practice Setup, and then click Integration Settings.

The Integration Settings dialog box appears.

Select the FHIR tab on the left.

The options become available on the right.

Set up the options on the following tabs as needed:

Rabbit MQ

Redis

Click OK.

XRayVision Integration (Military facilities only)

In the Integration Settings, you can now configure Dentrix Enterprise to open Apteryx's cloud-based imaging program for a patient selected in Chart when you click the XV Link button  on the toolbar.

To configure integration with the cloud-based XRayVision imaging program

In Office Manager, on the Maintenance menu, point to Practice Setup, and then click Integration Settings.

The Integration Settings dialog box appears.

Select the XRayVision tab on the left.

The options become available on the right.

Select the Web Launch option.

Enter the correct URL in the Client Redirect Url box.

Enter the correct credentials in the Username and Password boxes.

Note: To verify that you can connect to XRayVision, click Test Connection.

Set up other options as needed.

Click OK.
