You can inactivate the procedure codes that you do not want to post in your practice. You cannot inactivate a procedure code that is in use (such as in an insurance plan's payment table). An inactive procedure code is not available throughout Dentrix Enterprise for any clinic. Inactivating a procedure code is not permanent; you can reactivate any inactive procedure code as needed.
Note: Inactivating and reactivating procedure codes requires the "Procedures, Inactivate/Activate" security right.
To inactivate a procedure code
In the Procedure Code Setup dialog box, select the ADA-CDT Codes tab.
In the Procedure Code Category list, select a category.
The corresponding procedure codes appear in the list to the right.
Select a procedure code.
Click Inactivate.
If applicable, do one of the following:
If the Password - Procedures, Inactivate/Activate dialog box appears, user verification has been assigned to the "Procedures, Inactivate/Activate" task. Do one of the following:
If your user account has been granted the "Procedures, Inactivate/Activate" security right, enter your credentials in the User ID and Password boxes, and then click OK.
If your user account has not been granted the "Procedures, Inactivate/Activate" security right, have a user with permission temporarily override this restriction so you can inactivate a procedure code this one time. The overriding user enters his or her credentials in the User ID and Password boxes and then clicks OK.
If a message appears, informing you that you do not have rights to this operation, your user account has not been granted the "Procedures, Inactivate/Activate" security right. To have a user with permission temporarily override this restriction so you can inactivate a procedure code this one time, do the following:
On the message, click Yes.
In the Password - Procedures, Inactivate/Activate dialog box, the overriding user enters his or her credentials in the User ID and Password boxes and then clicks OK.
Do one of the following:
If the procedure code is in use, the Procedure cannot be inactivated dialog box appears. Use the information shown as a reference to clear it from those areas of Dentrix Enterprise, and then attempt to inactivate the procedure code again.
A confirmation message appears. Click Yes to confirm that you want to inactivate the procedure code, and then click OK on the message that appears, stating that the procedure code was inactivated.
