Global alerts overview

While you are working with appointments or prescriptions from Ledger, Chart, or Treatment Planner, automated notifications that provide information and care suggestions may appear. You can customize what these clinical decision notifications say and the rules that control where and when the notifications appear for all clinics. The rules are based on data from specified medical alerts/problems, medications/prescriptions, allergies, diagnoses, patient demographics, and/or laboratory test results.

Global alerts are different from patient alerts in that patient alerts must be set up on a per patient basis, and global alerts deal only with clinical information (they are for clinical decision support).

Note: Accessing the Global Alerts Setup requires the "Global Alerts, Add/Edit/Delete" security right.

To access the Global Alerts Setup

In Office Manager, on the Maintenance menu, point to Practice Setup, and then click Global Alerts Setup.

If applicable, do one of the following:

If the Password - Global Alerts, Add/Edit/Delete dialog box appears, user verification has been assigned to the "Global Alerts, Add/Edit/Delete" task. Do one of the following:

If your user account has been granted the "Global Alerts, Add/Edit/Delete" security right, enter your credentials in the User ID and Password boxes, and then click OK.

If your user account has not been granted the "Global Alerts, Add/Edit/Delete" security right, have a user with permission temporarily override this restriction so you can access the Global Alerts Setup this one time. The overriding user enters his or her credentials in the User ID and Password boxes and then clicks OK.

If a message appears, informing you that you do not have rights to this operation, your user account has not been granted the "Global Alerts, Add/Edit/Delete" security right. To have a user with permission temporarily override this restriction so you can access the Global Alerts Setup this one time, do the following:

On the message, click Yes.

In the Password - Global Alerts, Add/Edit/Delete dialog box, the overriding user enters his or her credentials in the User ID and Password boxes and then clicks OK.

The Global Alerts Setup dialog box appears.
