You can search for patients by last name, first name, preferred name, home phone number, chart number, or Social Insurance Number. You can also search for patients you have archived, or you can search patients by appointment date, or you can search by a combination of search parameters, such as last name and birthday or preferred name, Social Insurance Number, and phone number.
Note: When you first install Dentrix, no patients are in the database. You must enter patient information manually or through an electronic data conversion.
To search for a patient using advanced search
1. In the File menu of a Dentrix module from which you can select patients, click Select Patient.
The Select Patient dialog box appears.
2. Click the Advanced Search tab.
3. To search for a patient, in the corresponding text box, do one of the following:
· Last Name – Type the patient's last name.
· Chart # – Type the first few characters of the patient's chart.
· SIN – Type the first few numbers of the patient's Social Insurance Number.
· Birthday – Type the patient's birthdate.
Note: You can also select the patient's birthdate by clicking the arrow and selecting the date from the calendar.
The patient's name and information appear in the list.
4. Click OK.
