Refreshing your browser
Aw, snap. Have you ever seen a kill page or an "Error 500" message or had a problem seeing patient appointments or account notes while using Dentrix Ascend? Have you ever felt that Dentrix Ascend was just not behaving correctly?
Each time you initially access a page in Dentrix Ascend, your browser caches (saves) the files (such as images) that are associated with that page. The browser does this so it does not have to retrieve the same files repeatedly as you navigate the website. This behavior is common to all browsers. Emptying the cache and forcing the page to re-download everything can often alleviate display problems, so it is a popular troubleshooting technique for any browser-based program.
To empty your browser cache and perform a hard reload in Chrome
-
Press F12 (for MacOS, press Command+Option+I) to open the Chrome developer console.
-
Right-click the Reload icon, and then click (or tap) Empty Cache and Hard Reload.
-
Press F12 (or Command+Option+I) again to close the developer console.
Notes:
-
There is no way to predict when you may need to empty cache and hard reload a webpage.
-
You should not need to empty cache and hard reload a page multiple times in a row or multiple times a day. If emptying cache and hard reloading does not improve things, there is probably some other underlying reason for the problems that you are experiencing, so contact Customer Support.
