Because an ERA's information is electronically transmitted directly into Dentrix, insurance claim payments are almost automatic for all claims associated with the ERA. All of its information, including its payments, are entered for you and are ready for you to review and post to the Ledger, instead of you having to enter its information manually!

Key Information
Important! Even though you receive an ERA through Dentrix, this does not necessarily mean that the payer has reimbursed your bank account with the ERA's payment. Therefore, it's best practice only to post an ERA after you have verified that the payer's payment has been received and deposited into your bank account.
In the Batch Entry Type group box, the number of unprocessed ERAs (eEOBs) are displayed in parentheses, which gives you an idea of how many ERAs need to be processed.
In Dentrix, you can view a list of all unprocessed and processed ERAs (eEOBs), select an ERA from a list to view, and post electronic payments and adjustments to corresponding claims that are currently in Dentrix. You can also post claim payments (or adjustments) one claim at a time or for all claims included in a single ERA, and for primary and secondary dental and medical claims.
Sometimes an ERA's information doesn't match its related claim in Dentrix; therefore, the eStatus of the claim displays as "Not Found" and you cannot process the claim. To find the claim in Dentrix, select the pending claim, click the Find Claim button, search by carrier or patient, select the "found" claim, and click OK. To learn more, read Finding Claims in Dentrix Help.
To have ERAs automatically sent to the Document Center, select Copy Electronic EOBs to Document Center in the Insurance Payment Setup dialog box. To learn how, read Setting Up Automatic Insurance Payment Adjustments in Dentrix Help.
To avoid the possibility of posting the same ERA multiple times, Dentrix locks the claim so that you cannot simultaneously open it on more than one computer. You can view the claim on another computer, but you cannot make any changes to it.
After you've posted the claims' payments to the Ledger, you can generate statements to send to your patients, showing them what the carriers paid for their procedures and any outstanding amounts that they might owe. To generate the statements, click the Generate Statements button and process the statements as you normally would.
For specifics about posting ERAs (eEOBs), such as posting all pending claims, splitting claims, applying deductibles, etc., review the Dentrix Help topics under Entering Electronic Insurance Payments.
