Setting up exam information templates

In Dentrix, you can set up custom exam templates for periodontal exams. For example, you may want to create templates based on the expected periodontal conditions of certain groups of people, such as tobacco chewers or smokers.

The values you set for each exam template will be the default values that appear when you select a template from the Exam Information Templates list.

To set up an exam information template

1.   Select a patient, and then click the Exam Information tab in the Perio panel.

The Exam Information section appears.

2.   To create a template, click Template Setup .

The Exam Information Template Setup dialog box appears.

3.   Under Perio Notes, select the note that you want to change (Attachment, Bleeding, Color, and so forth), and then click the appropriate value from the adjacent list.

Note: For example, if you are setting up an exam template for a smoker and most of your patients who smoke have mild gingival bleeding, set the value for Bleeding to Mild. Mild appears as the default value whenever you select the smoker exam template saving you from having to change the value each time you perform a periodontal exam on a smoker.

4.   Under Patient Status and Perio Status, select the appropriate status.

5.   Under Periodontitis, select the form for the template.

6.   To save your selections, click Save Template.

The Save Template dialog box appears.

7.   Type a new name for the template, and then click OK.
