Printing perio exams and reports

Using the Dentrix Perio Chart, you can record mobility, furcation grades, plaque, calculus, bone loss, pocket depths, bleeding and suppuration points, gingival margins, CAL levels, and MGJ measurements. You can print periodontal exams and exam information for your patients. To ensure that your printouts look professional, you can use any of five report styles when you print a periodontal exam for your patients.

To print a periodontal exam

1.   In the Perio Chart, click File, and then click Open Exam.

The Open Exam dialog box appears.

2.   Select an exam and click Open.

The selected exam information appears.

3.   Click File, and then click Print Perio Exam.

The Print Options dialog box appears.

Note: The Print Options dialog box does not appear if you have not selected the option to display the Print Options dialog box.

4.   Type the information that you want to include and select the options that you want to exclude from the printed report.

·        Web Address - Type your practice's website address in Web Address if you want to include that information on the printout.

·        Email - To include your office email address on the printout, type it in the Email field.

·        Hide Patient SSN - Select to prevent the patient’s Social Security number from appearing on the printout.

·        Hide Patient Chart Number - Select to prevent the patient’s chart number from appearing on the printout.

·        Hide Patient Birthdate - Select to prevent the patient’s birth date from appearing on the printout.

·        Print Preview - Select to open a preview of the printout before it is printed.

·        Display Print Options - Select if you want the Print Options dialog box to appear every time you print perio exam information. Clear this box if you want to save the settings and not display the dialog box.

Note: If you do not select the option for the Print Options dialog box to appear each time you print, you can open the Print Options dialog box again by clicking Setup, and then clicking Print Options.

5.   When you have selected the print options that you want, click OK.

The Print Perio Exam dialog box appears.

6.   Select any of the following perio reports that you want to print:

·        Insurance Consultant - Prints a letter that can be sent as documentation of periodontal disease diagnosis to an insurance carrier.

·        Patient File - Prints a document that can be placed in the patient’s chart that documents the periodontal diagnosis for the selected exam.

·        Patient Initial - Prints a letter that can be sent to patients to remind them of their periodontal diagnosis and to suggest home care aids.

·        Patient Progress - Prints a follow-up letter that can be sent to patients to update them on their periodontal status.

·        Patient Completion - Prints a congratulatory letter that can be sent to patients on the completion of their periodontal treatment. The letter contains several helpful reminders to aid patients in maintaining their periodontal health.

·        Referring Dentist Initial - Prints a letter that can be sent as documentation of a periodontal disease diagnosis to the referring dentist.

·        Referring Dentist Progress - Prints a letter that contains updated diagnostic information for the referring dentist.

·        Referring Dentist Completion - Prints a letter that contains final diagnostic information and explains that the patient should be returning to the referring dentist for general dental care.

Note: You must have Microsoft Word installed on the computer you print your letters from.

·        Data Chart - Prints the Data Chart.

·        Pocket Depths Only - Prints the Data Chart, but only includes pocket depths.

·        Graphic Chart - Prints the Graphic Chart (will print in color if sent to a color printer).

·        Combined Graphic & Data Chart - Prints the Graphic & Data Chart (will print in color if sent to a color printer).

7.   Click Print.

Note: If you are printing any of the letters, Microsoft Word opens.

If you are printing any of the charts, the Print Preview dialog box appears .

 

8.   Click Print.

The standard Windows Print dialog box appears from which you can select the printer you want to send the report to, set print preferences, and so forth.
