Identifying and removing expired CAP keys

Starting in October 2025, Visa will begin charging businesses a monthly fee for processing transactions of cards whose Certificate Authority Public (CAP) keys have expired, Henry Schein One and Worldpay have developed a tool that identifies these expired keys and then prompts practices to remove them, so they don’t incur this monthly fee.

To identify and remove expired CAP keys

1.   In the Ledger, select a credit card transaction, and then click the Enter Payment toolbar button.

A Yes/No message box appears.

2.   Do one of the following:

To continue with the transaction, click No.

To back up and remove the CAP key, click Yes.

The Enter Payment dialog box appears.

3.   Enter the required information to complete the transaction.
