You can acquire documents using any type of device that supports the following outputs: .txt, .rtf, .pdf, .doc, .docx, .xls, .xlsx, .ppt, .bmp, .gif, .jpg, and .png. Prior to acquiring a document, you must first attach the device that you will use to acquire the document to your computer.
To acquire a document from a device
1. In the Document Center, click Acquire, point to From Device, and then select the device that you want to use to acquire the document.
Note: If no devices are attached to your computer, the From Device option in the Acquire menu and the From Device button have no focus.
The Dentrix Quick Scan dialog box appears.
2. Depending on the device you selected, select a scan type, and then click Setup Defaults.
The Setup Acquisition Method Defaults dialog box appears.
3. Do one or more of the following:
· Document Type – Select the appropriate type from the list.
· Description – Type a description of the document. The description displays in the Document Tree. The description serves as a file name for the document when it is exported or sent in an email. You can enter up to 40 characters.
· Orientation – Select the appropriate orientation from the list.
· Acquire without displaying Document Information –
· Select if you do not want the Document Information dialog box to appear after you acquire the document.
· Do not select if you want to add a note to the document.
4. Select one of the following acquisition dialog styles:
· Use Quick Scan – If you are acquiring a document from a scanner and if you selected Black & White Text or Text with Graphics in the Dentrix Quick Scan dialog box.
· Use OEM Dialog – If you are acquiring a document from a digital camera, smartphone, or webcam and if you selected Color Image, Black & White Image, or High Quality Black & White in the Dentrix Quick Scan dialog box.
5. Do one of the following:
· Click Save and Close to save your settings and close the dialog box.
· Click Clear/Reset to restore the default settings.
6. In the Dentrix Quick Scan dialog box, click one of the following:
· Launch OEM dialog – If you are using a digital camera, smartphone, or webcam to acquire a document.
· Quick Scan – If you are using a scanner to acquire a document.
Note: Depending on the device you are using, this rest of the process will differ depending on how the device manufacturer implemented the TWAIN 32 driver software. If you have problems, contact your hardware technician or the support line for your device manufacturer.
