The Acquisition Agent includes a watchdog utility that monitors the Acquisition Agent's status, restarts the agent if needed, and logs incidents. The watchdog installs with the agent, detects whether the agent is running at configurable intervals, and attempts to restart the agent if it is not running. If the agent does not restart, the watchdog attempts to restart the agent until reaching the maximum number of retries.
· The watchdog includes a Start Acquisition Agent shortcut to start the agent manually.
· The watchdog includes a menu allowing you to enable or exit the watchdog, start the acquisition agent, or show the log files.
· The watchdog icon changes color as its status changes (green = enabled, yellow = disabled, red = error).
· If the watchdog detects that the acquisition agent is not running, it generates a report and copies it to a log file.
· Watchdog log files are deleted after 180 days. (Acquisition agent logs are deleted after 30 days.)
· The watchdog monitors the acquisition agent's status every five seconds.
